It was our first day and first meal in Italy and this restaurant was highly recommended by a friend. The restaurant was really dark. The service was excellent. The waiter was very warm and patient, and translated the entire menu for us in English. We had the mixed cured meat platter, foie gras starter, tagliolini with zucchini flowers and shrimp and a grilled steak. Presentation was poor. Very home style. For the kind of prices, we were expecting food presentation to be more restaurant-style. The cured meat platter was alright, a nice introduction to Italian cured meats for us. The foie gras was disappointing. It was basically a small dollop of pate with some more cured meat and a few slices of bread. The pasta was gluggy and fishy (not sure if the shrimp was fresh). And the steak was dry. We struggled to finish our dinner and didn't bother to give dessert a try. It was not a very pleasant first experience of Italian food in Italy.
