My wife and I spent 4 nights at Palazzo Arrivabene. What a beautiful place to stay - built in 1491 this was truely an amazing experience staying here. The hosts, Rene and her son Claudio are fanastic - warm and very friendly. Breakfast with Rene was a treat and a great start to the day. Her home made cooking is to die for!! Claudio went completely out of his way to help us with many things - car hire, where to go, what to do and where to eat - thank you Claudio. While its a B&B its more like a home and is conveniently located in a quiet area. The rooms are big and well appointed, serviced daily. I recommend Mantova and especially the Palazzo Arrivabene to any traveller.

Room Tip: All rooms are great - you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I stayed at Palazzo Arrivabene last month and although we usually stay in 4 star hotels this place was beyond any of our expectations. We have visited plenty of palazzo's in Italy through the years but never thought we would stay in one !!!! The place is impeccable filled with antiques and art. As you enter the palazzo through the main stairway you are greeted with a 30ft vaulted ceiling containing a just restored 15th century fresco. Our hosts Claudio and his beautiful mom Luciana were just so generous with their time and recommendations. Although we booked for 2 nights we would of easily stayed a week !!! We can't wait to go back to Mantova for the only reason of spending more time with our hosts in their beautiful home.

My husband found this b&b on the internet and insisted on staying two nights, and what a find! This isn't just a beautiful building which has been turned into tourist accommodation, this is a home. Rene, a very elegant lady, and her son Claudio live here, their ancestral home. Like many Italian homes it is hidden behind a nondescript facade, so what a surprise to enter the building and find you are in a true palazzo. There's no need for locking away your valuables you are in a very secure home, a guest with a key to a palace! Our room was spacious with a large adjoining bathroom. Rene speaks no English, we speak no Italian. Claudio does speak English but we met him only briefly one morning at breakfast. Rene tried very hard to communicate with us, she laughed a lot and has genuine warmth. She recommended good restaurants and sightseeing and made creme caramel for breakfast as well as serving homemade preserves and pastries. We parked our car in the locked courtyard of the palazzo. Staying here is a unique experience at a very generous rate.

...a real palazzo with fantastic rooms and furnishing. We had a huge (the bed and the room) double bedded room and really enjoyed the hospitality of this lovely family.

I stayed at this B&B with a few friends over night and had a very good time. Signora Bini was very warm and welcoming and the breakfast spread was superb! It is very very conveniently located, 5 minutes to the center on foot. The place itself is amazing as it is an old palazzo that has been wonderfully maintained (a beautiful fresco on the foyer of the main floor was being restored when we were there) and you feel like a member of the family coming home when you arrive.

Claudio and his mother Reni made us all feel most welcome on arrival after a very long trip from Australia. Suggestions on where to dine and what to see during our three day stay were spot on. Our privately guided tour of Palazzo Ducale arranged by Claudio was extremely interesting and very informative. His mothers explanation and information on the history of their
home with it's frescoes recently restored was fascinating. We have no hesitation on recommending this b and b.

My wife stayed in this beautiful family home that is run by an elegant Italian woman, Luciana, and her son, Claudio. Both were fantastic and the onverted palace was very charming. Everything was superlative.
