Stayed at the Belvedere for three nights in early July. We had booked just for bed and breakfast but ended up having dinner there as well as nearly all the other restaurants close about 5pm (which was a bit disappointing), apart from one other hotel. We had paid extra for a lake view and our room was very nice with a small balcony. There is no lift and the staircase was extremely dark - the light only came on when we were outside our room. The setting of the restaurant is fantastic - virtually right beside the lake. The dinner menu was quite pricey but the service and presentation was excellent - complimentary aperitifs and canapes which were a nice touch although we were ultimately paying for them in the price! The staff were were all very friendly. Isola Pescatori is extremely busy during the day but it is lovely in the evening when the ferries have stopped and there are only the local residents there (about 40 people) plus the few tourists like ourselves.
Definitely a great experience if you want to get away from it all.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights to celebrate our anniversary. We had a room with a balcony and really enjoyed sitting there watching the changes in weather (of which there were many!) and the comings and goings along the shore below us. As another reviewer mentioned, there is a view of the lake from all the rooms - but we enjoyed having our own balcony.
All the staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming - particularly Lara, on reception, who speaks very good English.
We ate in the restaurant for 2 evenings - they do an 'A la carte' menu in the evenings and one more suited to tourists in the day. On our last evening we asked if we could have a meat lasagne from the day-time menu, and they were happy to oblige.

After a long international flight we arrived for a 2 night stay at Hotel Belvedere. Our 2 rooms were decent and one had a beautiful view of the lake and mountains. We splurged the first night and ate at the hotel, and it was one of the best meals of our 2 week trip. Breakfasts were also very good. It was quiet after the boatloads of tourists left in the early evening, but we enjoyed that while recovering from jet lag. We also enjoyed using the the ferry system to get around the area. Beautiful scenery!

Found we would get there one day early, and all they had was a suite on the top floor. Expensive and definitely not worth the money- fancy shower, but weird sloping ceiling and little furniture. They moved us to room 101, which was probably the nicest with a big balcony. It was good, but the walls had marks on them that should have been cleaned. Very friendly and helpful front office. Breakfast was good, but not great compared to others we'd had. The dinner at the hotel was also good, but not great. The meals in Stresa were much better. Also, a bit of a hassle to figure out where to park our car before catching a boat out.

Room Tip: ask for #101

This Hotel is situated well on this tiny picture perfect island. It is decorated nicely and had stunning views over the Lake. WE had a balcony room which was great. The island itself is very disappointing because after 6pm everything is closed so there is nowhere to eat except The Hotel Belvedere and the food was terrible! We ordered Lasagna and it was obvious it was just put together on the spot. My husbands food was also terrible. This is a problem when there is not much choice of restaurants to dine @. Maybe in the high season the food is better. If you are looking for atmosphere and choice of places to eat @ stay in BAVENO instead.

This was our first stay on Isola Pescatori, and we loved the island and the hotel. Very friendly and welcoming, the hotel has a very good restaurant, and offers peace and quiet once landed and off the ferry. We took the room with the biggest balcony, and enjoyed evening drinks gazing at Isola Madre from the privacy of it, before eating downstairs with the same lovely view. Paco and his staff speak good English and will help you understand the ferries and best places to visit. Don't miss Isola Bella or Isola Madre while exploring Lake Maggiore. Both are oustanding villas and gardens.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

We spent 3 of our 11 nights in Lago Maggiore at the Hotel Belvedere. Paco and his staff were extremely helpful and we quite enjoyed our stay. They helped telephone my Italian cousins (we speak little Italian and they speak little English) to arrange a meeting as well as making all our dinner reservations. We had a lovely view of Isola Madre from the 2nd floor (no elevator) with a comfortable room and a shower in the attached bathroom. We had a good dinner at the hotel our first night and tried other restaurants on the island the other 2 nights. The price was quite good for a nice room on a resort island. We had good, free wifi service and Paco even set it up so we could access with 3 devices (iPhones and iPad). We used this as a base to continue to explore the sights of the lake, using the island ferry system to visit nearby Isola Bella (see other sights listed in Tripadvisor under Lake Maggiore in Lombardy as well as Piedmont, Italy) and back to Stresa.

Room Tip: Room with a view of the water
