Wonderful place, never seen such beauty before! Excellent accommodation, top notch breakfast, with genuine staff and facilities with picture perfect views. Sky bar second to none on the 7th floor!
Island cruises definitely a must, township has the wow factor at every turn.

Room Tip: Try and get a lake view

Grand hotel bursting with character and in great location next to the lake and close to the centre of Stresa. Rooms have been modernised and bedroom and bathroom are a good size. We asked for Lake view with balcony and were not dissapointed with what we got. Rooms are made up on a regular basis and level of service including the front desk were all of a high level.
The one feature this hotel has which the others around don't is the skybar. Situated on the roof of the hotel it offers great views, and is a fantastic area to chill out in and enjoy a cocktail.
The hotel also has wi-fi and a well equipped gym.
Breakfast was a bit dissapointng, would have liked a bit more choice of hot food but overall this is a wonderful hotel and a great base to explore the lake

La Palma is nicely updated with large public spaces and a fabulous 7th floor pool, exercise area and bar with to-die-for view of Lake Maggiore and the surrounding landscape. Many rooms have balconies with a similar view and plenty of space to enjoy a cocktail while watching the boats on their way to Isola Bella, Isola Pescatori and Isola Madre. There is also an outdoor pool on the shore of the lake. There are two shower heads in the bath with massaging jets as well. A large dining room can handle touring groups and individual diners. Good WiFi service is available without charge. The hotels is centrally located near the concert hall, many restaurants and the charming old town area.

The hotel is beautiful. It is in a perfect location to the city center/ferry/train station. We were lucky to get a lakefront room with a large balcony. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. The views from the rooftop bar are gorgeous both day and night. The breakfast was plentiful with the dining area looking out at the lake.

Room Tip: Request a lakefront or side view room.

Stayed here for 2 weeks in late August and couldn't have asked for better. We made our original booking with Thomson's Lakes & Mountains but upgraded to a lake view room direct with the hotel which worked out cheaper. I am so glad we did, the view was simply stunning and no photograph could do it justice. The staff were all very nice and the head waiters extremely helpful. It was good to have table service at dinner when so many places are now buffet/self service. The hotel was in a good location for access to public transport - the railway station was a 3-5 minute walk up a small hill at the side of the hotel. When we weren't sightseeing we spent some days up at the sun terrace on the 7th floor Sky Bar and others across the road at the swimming pool. The views from the Sky Bar are breathtaking. A visit to the gardens of the Palace on Isola Bella is a must.

Room Tip: lake room worth paying for.
