Went to this busy restaurant few years ago but this time it was not as good. Same nice and colourful owner, efficient staff, but it is getting too busy for its own good. Even the glass of spumante offered as a gesture for the waiting time outside did not make up for the quality of the food. The fish was tasteless, the ceps were swimming in oil, the saffron sauce was heavy. Shame.

“wouldn't do it again”
Reviewed August 28, 2014

We booked for 7pm when restaurant opened, another table who were waiting for friends were asked to leave at 10 past 7 when the missing couple hadn't turned up. Couples put on a table for 4 were left somewhat surprised when total strangers were sat with them in order to maximise covers. If you don't mind eating under pressure knowing that your table is required for the next customers then this is definitely the place for you. If you want a relaxing evening this is definitely not the place. Yes the food was quite good but there are plenty of other places as good if not better than this place. The most fun we had was guessing how quickly we would get our bill when we asked for it - we think it was an all time record - 8 seconds...

This is exactly how I imagined Italian dining to be a small quirky place, with fantastic traditional Italian food which was good value for money and friendly staff - a lovely touch was the head chef coming out to check we were all ok. Just be prepared to wait for a table as very popular and very small however whilst waiting you are given prosseco and nibbles. We liked it so much we went twice in 2 days!

Lets say one thing, you will never have tried anything like this before. Well I hadn`t!! The first time I tried to get a table ( approx 20.00), I was told to come back after 40 min and one would be ready. After a couple of drinks we returned to wait another 20 mins and still no sign of a table.
The next day I decided to try a different approach, I booked one of the first tables available , at 19.15, and arrived at 19.10 to be shown direct to a nice WEE table for two. The table next to us, approx 1/2 metre away, was for 6 people.....with 3 couples who were all strangers. They even had a table for 4, with a couple, on their own, sharing a table with another couple and a 3 year old child.
It definitely was not comfortable.......but it was quirky!
Now the best bit......the food! The lamb ravioli starter was bril, and the veal in a saffron sauce superb, washed down with a litre of house white ( 11 euros) was close to being perfect, The overall cost for 2 starters, 2 mains, 1 sweet, 2 espressos and wine came to 71 euros.

So if you can put up with the "friendliness" of other folk or even BOOK A SPECIFIC TABLE then this place will tick all the boxes

“Good food, large portions”
Reviewed August 17, 2014

We had lunch here with 4 people - we passed by and were attracted by the exterior as well as the interior and when we checked Tripadvisor we saw it was on number 12 so we did not hesitate and sat down. The staff was friendly, fast and correct; we did not have to wait long between courses. We took two courses; I started with gnocchi (the portion was worth a head course) and afterwards veal with gorgonzola sauce, really soft meat. No need to say we were stuffed and had to say no to dessert :-)
One of us is not a big fan of Italian cuisine but was really surprised by the quality of the dishes he ordered. We are happy to have converted him!
