“Nice lunch spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 30, 2014 via mobile

Stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleased with this restaurant. Reasonable prices and good food. Service was good as well. Not the best restaurant in Stresa but I would say it is one of the better ones.

“YOU'RE IN ITALY, GET OVER IT!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 23, 2014

I've read the reviews on this trattoria, not ristorante, and for the most part they are good and then there are those that point out the negatives. One thing everyone apparently agrees is the place is always packed. And, the locals eat there, so La Botte must be doing something right. MY wife and I have eaten there 3 times over a 3 year period. Our friends were with us and we all are Italian and cooks and our families were from different regions in Italy. We all like the food. The fish was good and so were the pastas and I had veal which was well presented.

It must be understood that you can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of the time. which was said in some form by Abe Lincoln. I've had bad wine in a few places but that's to my taste. We've all cooked dishes that some rave and others make faces. Que' Sera!.

The wait staff is not friendly but they do eventually get you the food. Yes, you can make a reservation and find out they don't remember or maybe they don't want to remember. However, people just keep going back. They actually did us a favor when I left my camera there and when I called they said they found it and would hold it. They did and when we got there they seated us and we had another great meal the next day. So, all isn't bad. Let's remember if you look at the reviews it's mostly Americans, of which I proudly am. But many of us just expect what we want and think is correct. La Botte isn't an Olive Garden or Charlie Browns, it's Italian. Pazienza, mio amico. Go and enjoy, it's a no nonsense Italian eating experience.

“Perfectly acceptable lunch stop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 17, 2013 via mobile

We got the last table on a Saturday lunchtime and the choice on the menu was very tempting. We tried a variety of dishes from various courses and it all got a bit confused as they arrived at apparently random times in random order. They did apologise for that - we'd confused them by ordering from odd bits of the menu!

One comment only on the food. The pepperoncino in the spaghetti aglio olio and pepperoncino wasn't even slightly spicy. Otherwise, it was all fine.

“Food par Excellence”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 12, 2013

We were lucky to obtain a table at this very cosy restaurant on a Monday night. The restaurant opens at seven and is well worth lining up for. We enjoyed an excellent meal which included wild boar and gnocchi beyond compare. The service was friendly and efficient. Thanks

“Popular Stresa Restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

Based on our hotel's advice we chose to dine at La Botte our second evening in town. We did
pass by the night before and were glad we had made reservations. It was very busy and if you
had no reservation you would have had a long wait. It is not a very large place, but can accommodate fairly sizable groups. While there is some variety, the menu focuses on fish and
other seafood. We tried a variety, including pasta and a very good lake fish dish. We chose the house wine which was acceptable and inexpensive. The chef is a people person, and spends a good bit of time with his customers. He shows up in a lot of pictures taken during visitor time in the restaurant. It was a fun place in which to dine, and we would return.
recommend it as a good, local establishment.
