Hotel Rigoli is located directly on the lake, the views from the front balconies are spectacular, they are large and in full sun in the mornings. I agree that the towels are like table cloths but still very absorbant. Service and staff were very helpful and friendly especially Claudia. We were a party of eight with one of us requiring Gluten free meals; they provided GF bread and crackers, biscuits etc for breakfast. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the only suggestion I would like to make was to have Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room. We only stayed 3 nights and it’s clearly not enough time to enjoy all the sightseeing. We went on the Maggiore express a train that you can catch at Baveno which takes you up the mountains and through Switzerland, then on the ferry down the lake back to Baveno and beyond. It’s an all day trip but well worth the 40 Euros each, the ticket is valid for two days (3 days are also available) which can be used on all ferry trips on the Lake. A word of warning Switzerland was very expensive for lunch. The train arrived in Loccano which is a large town, we took the ferry to Ascona for lunch which was much prettier. We will return to Lake Maggiore and would be delighted to stay at the Rigoli again.
