“Great Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 16, 2012

Hotel Rigoli is located directly on the lake, the views from the front balconies are spectacular, they are large and in full sun in the mornings. I agree that the towels are like table cloths but still very absorbant. Service and staff were very helpful and friendly especially Claudia. We were a party of eight with one of us requiring Gluten free meals; they provided GF bread and crackers, biscuits etc for breakfast. The rooms were spotlessly clean, the only suggestion I would like to make was to have Tea and Coffee making facilities in the room. We only stayed 3 nights and it’s clearly not enough time to enjoy all the sightseeing. We went on the Maggiore express a train that you can catch at Baveno which takes you up the mountains and through Switzerland, then on the ferry down the lake back to Baveno and beyond. It’s an all day trip but well worth the 40 Euros each, the ticket is valid for two days (3 days are also available) which can be used on all ferry trips on the Lake. A word of warning Switzerland was very expensive for lunch. The train arrived in Loccano which is a large town, we took the ferry to Ascona for lunch which was much prettier. We will return to Lake Maggiore and would be delighted to stay at the Rigoli again.

Room Tip: Front room balconies are better than the side rooms balcony views.

The Hotel Rigoli is located on the edge of Lake Maggiore with magnificent views across the lake, it is great for sun bathing and swimming (if you get the time), there is so mush to see and do, a week is not long enough.
Claudia and ALL the staff at the Hotel Rigoli are wonderful, friendly, helpful and always smiling, nothing is too much trouble should you need anything. The hotel is well run, the rooms comfortable, spotless and it is well worth the extra for a lake view. The food is second to none, with a wide choice for breakfast, it is highly recommended that you try the dinner menu also, we enjoyed dinner at the hotel more than once, fantastic!
Yes the towels are like table cloths as mentioned by another guest, but you do get used to them, although I will look at my best table linen in a different light when I get home.
The hotel is a great base to explore the islands, surrounding area, and if possible take the trip to Zermatt and the Matterhorn in Switzerland ( it's a full day with an early start but well worth it).
Baveno is loveley and has some very nice restaurants: "Ristorante Nazionale" and "Posta" the food is very good but don't expect to rush your meal, you have to do what the locals do "enjoy". Stresa has the shops and is a great place to explore, try the cable car the views are stunning, ( I don't like heights but I would not have missed this trip for the anything).
We had a fantastic holiday (and have hundreds of photos with just as many happy memories to prove it). We hope to return at some time in the future.
We would also like to thank everyone at Hotel Rigoli and Thompson/Crystal for a fantastic time.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and book a room overlooking the lake, you will not regret it the view is breathtaking.

The hotel is ideally located right on the water, which is great for swimming and sun bathing. The view of Lake Maggoire, the islands, and mountains is stunning! The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic. Hotel Rigoli is smaller than some of the other super large hotels nearby, which gives it a more personal and friendly flavor. The center of Baveno, the boats, supermarket, and restaurants were all an easy walks from the hotel, so we rarely needed to use our car. I highly recommend Hotel Rigolli!

Room Tip: Recommend getting a room facing the lake with the spectacular views of the lake, islands, and mounta...

This was our first visit to Lake Maggiore and we were not disappointed. Hotel Rigoli is a well run hotel with attentive staff (a special mention for Manuela, she was a joy, always smiling and always happy to chat). Unlike the previous reviewer, we found our fellow guests to be most unfriendly, nobody seemed to even want to say good morning. For a small hotel this is most unusual.

Our room was very comfortable, we asked for a lake view and we were not disappointed, the bathroom was "compact" but adequate. I must make a comment about the towels, they were like table cloths, in various sizes, not very good on the skin.

We stayed bed/breakfast but had dinner three evenings, the food was excellent and it was very nice to be waited on. The breakfast was also very good with lots of variety.

This hotel is in an ideal location for the ferries (a 5/10 minute walk from the hotel). We did a lot of sightseeing around the lake by ferry and beyond. Stresa is a lovely town to wonder around with a lot more shops and restaurants than Boveno.

If you are looking for peace and quiet and stunning views, this is the hotel for you. One more thing, if you are prone to mosquito bites, be very careful, I was bitten quite badly on my hand and leg.

Room Tip: A lake view is a must, we had a corner room which got the sun in the morning.

Third floor, overlooking Lake Maggiore, weather perfect and the hotel matched it all. Claudia (the only person competent in English) and her staff are as helpful as you could want - nothing is too much trouble.
Breakfast is excellent and dinner was very good the one night the menu suited our tastes. The hotel directs you to a very good restaurant about 200m away (with a logo that is so "clever" that I don't know its name) where you are given a 10% discount.

This was our second visit to Rigoli, and we were welcomed like old friends by Claudia and team. We felt totally relaxed and can't wait to go back. We had an excellent room on the top floor with wonderful views. It was bliss! Everything in the hotel was as we remembered from last year, wonderful food and nothing was too much trouble. There are so many places to visit in the area, accessible by local bus and train as well as the ferry. We also met so many friendly people in the local shops and cafes as well as the other guests. We would like to say hello to George and Mary, William and Christa as well as Steve and his wife.

Room Tip: Lake views are obviously best, and each room designed individually.

My wife and I have just returned from a week's holiday in Italy at the Hotel Rigoli in Baveno on the shores of Lake Maggiore. The hotel is situated directly on the lakeside and is perfect in every sense - the staff could not have been more attentive and friendly, the rooms were beautifully appointed and "squeaky" clean!
The restaurant was really top class with a choice of 4 courses on the menu, which was not repeated during our stay..
We do not hesitate in recommending this hotel 100% for a really lovely holiday. For us it was a really special 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Room Tip: We would recommend the rooms facing the lake on the 2nd or 3rd floors.
