Went here purely as Baveno is fairly small & we were kind of out of season & some places shut on odd days & the reviews of the other restaurants were a little poor.
Despite a slow start (it appears most italians take their time anyway) it was all up hill from there. We decided to give the Chefs specials menu a go, which consisted of a bolognese pasta starter, escalope & potato main meal, pineapple cake dessert, with a bottle of water, after dinner coffee & a 1/4 of house wine.
All this was only 20 euros, so we presumed we'd only have a choice of water/coffee/wine, but that wasn't the case, we had them all. We also asked if we could exchange the dessert for another, as neither of us like pineapple & it was done without fuss or bother (as you sometimes get in uk restaurants)
We were equally surprised when we received a small welcome dish of spicy cocktail sausages wrapped in parma ham & covered with a warm honey sauce from the chef, completely free. The add ons didn't stop there, we also received a hot basket full of 5 different types of freshly made bread & before our coffee at the end of the meal, we were also given a plate of macaroons in 4 flavours, which were delicious, along with 4 chocolates to eat with our coffee.
The starter was quite large & absolutely delicious, the main course had 2 thin but deliciously moist escalopes, with seasoned roasted new potatoes & the tastier gravy ever & a decent amount of it too (i like my gravy!)
The puddings we halved, so we could try both, i had a nutella tiramisu, which sounds like an odd combo but it worked very well & the cream in it was lighter than air. My partner had a blood orange sorbet & it was just beyond amazing, so fruity, so refreshing & so delicious.
We couldn't fault the place at all, we left full, amazed & rating it as the best place we'd gone to in Baveno, we will certainly come back for more.

With a few restaurants in Baveno shut (being early March, we've visited a little pre-season!), tonight we stumbled across this delightful place on the main road through Baveno. We were initially the only guests in the restaurant but after about 8pm it literally filled up with locals (OK, maybe not local as such but Italian nonetheless so far more local than we were!).

We had a fillet steak and a pasta dish, both of which were perfectly cooked, full of taste and exquisitely presented. The pasta dish was also a very generous helping! The wine choice was also good as was the Sorbet I had for dessert which is the best I've ad to date and the bill was a steal at just over €50 for two main courses, one dessert, a bottle of wine and a bottle of water.

The decor is fabulous with really bold colours and design and the service from the lone waitress was friendly, prompt and really genuine. She spoke good English and made up for our total lack of Italian comprehension!

All in all, we're so glad we visited this lovely restaurant and can recommend it for it's ambience, service and above all, the taste and quality of its food.

The meals and service were perfect but unfortunately much too slow on serving the courses.

We tried this after consulting trip advisor. We have been living in the Lago Maggiore/ Stresa/Lesa/Arona area for 4 months and decided not to listen to the locals anymore. This restaurant was charming if not a bit eclectic in design. Hubby had a homemade tagliatele with black truffles - EXCELLENT- and I had s chicken dish which was delicious and had the most beautiful presentation I have seen in a long time. We had vegetables which were not on the menu - most of the restaurants do - you just have to ask. We had fresh spinach drenched in butter (kind of took the healthy part out of the green - but what the heck), grilled zuchinni and insalata di pomodoro. The service was OK, typical of Italy in that the servers ignore you for awhile until your eyes start giving them the evil eye!. But other than that, we will return without reservation.
