Very well situated with great view of the lake. The service at the front desk was professional and friendly, easy to understand this s a family run business. The room was nice not particularly modern but had all items needed for a nights stay. The bar and lounge was nice and personal. Great service. Breakfast in the morning had all one would expect, loved it. This is a great pace for a week-end - will be back

Lovely hotel, very pleasant and helpful staff! We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Pace which is family owned and operated. Only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the beautiful and very comfortable living room and bar. The hotel is in an excellent location, right in the middle of everything, with beautiful views of the water. We had a first floor double balcony room overlooking the water and the small square and enjoyed watching the sun set! Rooms have a flat screen TV some bathroom amenities, a hair dryer, lots of storage space, antique furniture and good lighting. The beds are comfortable, but I wish they had duvets because I don’t like bedspreads; they aren’t washed frequently enough. Breakfast was very good with an excellent assortment of pastries, meat, cheese, yogurt, fresh and canned fruit, juices and lots of sweets. Good coffee and excellent service! Free parking! It was too cold to eat at the outdoor dinning area, but it's a super location, very romantic with tables along a dock area. Check in and out was professional, friendly and helpful. Overall an excellent stay and I highly recommend it!

Room Tip: 66 is a great room with double balconies

What luck to decide to head for not only Sirmione but also to choose Hotel Pace. The room, with its balcony looking onto the street below, was extremely comfortable and the bathroom, except for the shower curtain, could not have been better .... a bath, a bidet and super lighting. Breakfast was magnificent - champagne and eggnog .... unbelievable. Congratulations to the family Barelli and the 'i' that made the booking for us. We especially recommend you visit Sirmione and stay with the Barelli family.

Room Tip: Of course a room with a Lake view is best but the view to the square was perfectly fine.

We have stayed one night at the hotel Pace in late August with our daughter. We arrived by car and could at least take out the luggage before my husband had to park the car approx. 800m away. The room was quite small and in the typical old fashioned Italian style. The aircon was not working so we had to ask for it to be repaired immediately. Luckily, it was fixed within next two hours as it was extremely hot at that time. After a walk in the area we went back to our hotel as it offers a terrace from which one can directly jump into Lake Garda. We enjoyed the afternoon sun and after a shower, decided to also have dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The food was good but very expensive, however, the view on the Lake was fabulous. The breakfast offered specialties for everyone and we could also have breakfast on the terrace, which was a superb start of the day. All in all a nice small hotel, but the rooms are quite small for three people.

We arrived in Hotel Pace on a hot afternoon in May after driving from Verona and while our room wasn't ready immediately, we were glad of the chance to just hang around the small jetty next to the hotel and take in the scenery, the fresh air and the curious ducks that are in abundance around Sirmione. I was glad of the chance to finally de-stress after a nerve-wracking final 200 metres to the hotel. I hadn't expected much hassle, but then no-one told me about driving in Sirmione.

Firstly, do not drive in Sirmione - or more accurately, do not travel to Sirmione by car if this is your only destination. The town is full of gorgeous little laneways and is easily explored by foot and if I'd arrived by coach or taxi, I'd have presumed cars are not permitted. But strangely, they are. So to enter Sirmione, one first calls to the security office at the old city gate. If they have your name on the list of expected visitors, they give you a permit and you head on through (if you're not on the list, paying for parking outside Sirmione and getting ready for a long walk with luggage is your next step).

Entering the city gate involves driving over a short wooden bridge over a moat and into a square behind the city walls. At this point, I confess we gave up and parked the car, walking up the narrow laneways to the Hotel Pace for the last 200 metres. But once we got speaking to the lady in reception, we realised that yes, we were supposed to drive there. So we got back to our car and drove, amidst the bemused fellow tourists that parted before us (sometimes standing so far back from us that they were almost flush with the walls), through lanes that are sometimes no more than 2 metres wide, to our hotel. We tried to look out for stray toes, skirts and even dogs; when you're this close to the scenery (and to being slapped with a big repair fee from the car rental company), driving is a real chore.

Nevertheless, we got to the few spaces next to the Hotel Pace and parked. At this point, they took our car up to a small car park they have near the top of the peninsula (unattended, but it'd be a brave car thief that tries to make a quick getaway from Sirmione) and informed us we'd need to give them 20 minutes' notice if we needed it again. Then we went out to the jetty and after half an hour, we could check in.

What a room. We had a lake view on a corner, so plenty of light but at the same time, my abiding memory is of it being very cool even at midday. The decor is authentic and aged without looking tacky or contrived, the size was more than adequate for two and there was plenty of storage. As well as this, the hotel has a lovely atmosphere to it, very quiet, restrained and almost English (but with Italian food!).

Breakfasts were a feast every morning. Every conceivable sweet pastry was on offer, juices, hams, cheeses and even prosecco were on offer. The staff were very friendly and while we didn't try the restaurant, it seemed very popular, even with non-residents.

Hotel Pace is ideal for a couple that want a quiet break and don't want to have to travel anywhere during their stay. It's position on the lake is perfect and it has a separate little jetty for guests' use only. It's lovely to just sit out on that all day

We're not that couple, so we had some acrobatics to contend with when we went to drive around Lake Garda. Sirmione itself is, as I've said, beautiful and it's certainly worth a look. The restaurants are great and quite reasonably-priced. But beyond this, it's a rip-off of epic proportions - the many gelaterias all charge in excess of €4 for a small ice-cream (and many of them aren't great), water is around the same and we didn't even try to enjoy a drink at any of the bars thanks to their bizarre opening hours and/or excessive pricing. Souvenirs, sun cream - anything tourists need is pricey. Lock the city gates and Sirmione becomes a literal tourist trap.

Hotel Pace is probably as it was since James Joyce stayed there (Joyce was Irish, by the way, not English!) and I'd still recommend it highly, despite its greedy neighbours!

Room Tip: Choose a lake view, it's worth it!

This was our second visit but with six friends four of which hadn't visited Lake Garda before. The location is excellent, the views sublime and what can I say about Mama's breakfast!!! All of us said it was the best 'feast' and start to the day ever!!! All the staff are very helpful and being family makes you feel more at home. I'm sorry Guilia but we may well be back for a third visit!
