“My stay at the Marconi hotel”
Reviewed May 21, 2012

My Mum and I stayed at the Marconi hotel earlier this month (May 2012), and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking to spend some time in Sirmione. This was the first time, that I had stayed in a family run hotel, and was made to feel very welcome. The hotel itself is nice. The room was clean, comfortable, and had a very modern shower (important to me) lol!, Yet, it also had an old fashioned Italian charm about it, which was reflected in the decor. The breakfast spread was amazing! I loved squeezing my own orange juice every morning, and the wide choice of sweet pastries and cakes were beautifully presented, and tasted great. The hotel even provided free wifi in the rooms which was an unexpected bonus for me! The outside area of the hotel was also lovely. The back overlooks stunning Lake Garda, and Mum and I enjoyed watching all the ducks and their ducklings in the water ... easily amused! There was a nice selection of seating outside ... 2 swing chairs, about 6 sun longers, and some tables and chairs. The hotel is situated in the middle of old town Sirmione, and has lots of restaurants, ice cream shops, and souvenir shops surrounding it. Once you have explored Sirmione a few times, there is nothing much to do, but there is the option of catching buses and ferries to other towns and cities. Mum and I took the bus to Verona one day, but were happy just to chill out and walk around for the rest of the time. So, all in all we were very happy with our stay from beginning to end. The icing on the cake was when one of the staff/family members actually waved us goodbye as we drove away in our taxi from the hotel. Not something that usually happens when you leave a hotel!

We have just come back from another marvellous stay at Hotel Marconi. Family Visani are extremely welcoming. The food is great, the rooms very comfortable and very clean. Dinner was served early so that we could watch the Mille Miglia cars arriving in Sirmione. The hotel in the old town is a quiet oasis away from the bustling narrow streets. We are going back again next year.

Tucked just off the bustling main street of quaint, busy Sirmione, Hotel Marconi offers a wonderful, friendly but discrete family service - Carlo at front of house goes the extra mile to be helpful - with lovely Italian decor and atmosphere. A Lakeside deck with sun loungers makes it perfect for relaxing. Highly recommended!

Sirmione was our choice to chill out after the hustle of Venice and Verona. The family owned and run Hotel Marconi came highly recommended and on arrival it was easy to see why. Parking out front after carefully following the directions through the old town's narrow streets provided by the hotel, we were greeted by the very pleasant reception staff, who were really helpful with details of Sermiione, transport on the lake, and restaurants.{make sure you exchange details of your booking with the hotel by e-mail before you arrive so that they can notify the police at the barrier entry to the old town).
Our room was excellent, clean and comfortable, with a very good bathroom and a small veranda looking out directly over the lake. It was great to sit with a glass of wine watching the lake traffic and enjoying the views across the lake. The hotel has really nice gardens with multiple seating areas looking out over the lake.
Excellent breakfast with an amazing choice including the largest selection of pastries I have ever seen. This a very well run hotel, and I would love to return and will certainly recommend. Sirmione is a great place to visit and riding the ferries between the other neat places around the lake is great fun - try a glass of Bardolino in Bardolino.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the lake with a balcony, - we had Room 12

Based on a recommendation by our friend from Tuscany, we decided to stay in Sirmione on Lake Garda for our first night in Italy. Our drive from Munich the first day tooks us through the Alps. On Venere.com we booked Hotel Marconi. Our room overlooked Lake Garda. Little did know that this hotel is right in the middle of the old walled city. A real adventure driving to the hotel through the old part of the city. We were greeted like family. Very modest comfortable rooms. A convenient location to walk around the old city. Breakfast with a lake view. Next time we will stay longer.

My husband and I stayed here whilst on honeymoon recently.
What a fantastic place! Sirmione is just gorgeous and this hotel was tucked away in the historic town centre, right on the lake.
The room was large with a balcony overlooking the lake. Perfect with a bottle of wine watching the sun set. My one criticism was that the shower cubicle was tiny- my husband struggled with his broad shoulders!!
We had read about the amazing home made feast of cakes, slices and tarts for breakfast and we weren't disappointed - breakfast looked too good to eat. The hotel smelled of cinnamon from the homemade treats which was just gorgeous .
When we checked out they gave us a brown wrapped parcel as a gift from their family to ours.... It was a huge cinnamon sugar cake/biscuit. So nice.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat

This was a wonderful experience and quite unexpected. A visit to Sirmione had not been planned but after advice from a friend, the advice included staying at Hotel Marconi, we booked. The booking was made 2 days before the visit, and then receivied the last available room. This room was very small which does not reflect the type of rooms generally available at the hotel. The hotel is beautifully located on Lake Garde with magnificant views across the lake making that drink late in the afternoon or a meal on the terrace so much more special. The staff at this family owned hotel went to great lenghts to ensure our stay was memorable. Meals, in our instance breakfast and dinner, will be long remembered. We were able to park our car at the hotel at no charge but driving throught this old town, with its narrow streets and tourists, was somewhat of a challenge. Following another vehicle is the best advice we can give. When we return to Lake Garde it will be to Hotel Marconi but we will ensure we book early.

Room Tip: If possible dodge room 21 but if this is the only room available still go particularly if, it's...
