After reading some of the reviews I did wonder if we had made a mistake booking this hotel. We travelled with Thomson Holidays and booked a superior room which may have made a difference. The room had just been refitted, with a lovely shower room and a balcony overlooking the pool, good closet space and a super king bed. Cleanliness seems to be the by word of this hotel from the public areas to the restaurant and rooms. The whole hotel has an aged elegance and reminded us of the holidays we used to have 30 years ago. The dining room is very formal by todays standards with uniformed waiters and starched napkins, the food was wonderful as was the service. It is a long time since we have visited a hotel where the staff were so genuinely polite. It is 2 miles from Sirmione and the ferry port but it is a very pretty 'flat walk'. There is a hotel bus but that is limited especially at weekends. Most of the clientele were 50+ so were happy that there was not entertainment, indeed it made it a much more social occasion after dinner. Not really a place for teenagers or young children. It is much nearer for the airport and Venice/Verona trips than other resorts. Sirmione itself is truly the 'Pearl of the Lake,' what a beautiful place. Most of the other visitors had stayed in the hotel before or come by recommendation - that surely says an awful lot. The hotel matches the surroundings and is well in line with Italian 4* ratings.

The rooms are ready for a refit with tired carpets and 1970s tiles in the bathroom. The rooms with a lake view unfortunately face a bar/ disco and part of our party had to be moved because of the noise at two in the morning.. beware!
We found the staff to be friendly and helpfull on the whole, the resteraunt food was not fine dinning but good fayre and we had the bonus of a bottle of wine with our deal
[ Thompson holidays].
The advertise shuttle bus is a good idea but not frequent enough.
If I had paid the recomended price advertised by the hotel I would have felt overcharged but having landed a Thompson late deal at a 50% discount it represented good value for money. I might return if the price was right, but there are a lot of hotels around, check first..

My son and I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay in the Du Parc hotel. The staff were very friendly, courteous and helpful, the meals were delicious and never boring, and thank goodness for the air conditioned room with average temperatures of 38 degrees. All in all it was the best holiday we've had in years.

Just returned from a great holiday at the Hotel Du Parc. The staff on reception are pleasant, helpful and friendly, they all speak good English. We were a little dissapointed with our room, the decor was dull and dated, definitely not 4star standard. However, the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. The room had a fridge with a minibar plus a wall safe (30 euros returnable deposit).

The meals were very good, we didn't find it a problem having to order our evening meal at breakfast as there's plenty of choice (5 courses). I would especially recommend the pasta dishes - some of the best I've ever tasted. The free bottles of wine and water with the meal are a definitive plus. The restaurant staff are also very polite, efficient and helpful (but also good fun)

The hotel is a pleasant 30 minute walk along the lakeside to Simione There is a courtesy bus from the hotel but we walked every day. We visited most of the towns on the southern end of the Lake, Sirmione was definitely my favourite with it's narrow streets, castle, cafes & ice cream shops. We travelled by ferry a couple of days but found them quite expensive, you also need to check the timetables carefully.

The town of Colombare is a short walk from the hotel, it has plenty of shops, bars & a supermarket.

The hotel has a large pool with plenty of sunbeds, pool towels are provided.

I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing enjoyable holiday.

We booked 11 night accommodation direct with the hotel. Sadly, we have to say neither of us could work out what made this a 4* Hotel - we have both travelled abroad extensively both In Europe & further afield and returned with the firm opinion that the Du Park should be a 3* hotel. The staff were extremely pleasant, everyone from the cleaners to the receptionists & waiting staff. Our bedroom (comfort suite - £150 per night B&B) ) was large with a nice bathroom - however, you couldn't exactly call it "pleasing to the eye" - it was very drab and dreary. The balcony was huge which was great. The bed was very large and comfortable but only one thin pillow for each was provided. Toilet roll was seriously rationed during our whole stay which was rather disconcerting and the towels in the bathroom were the poorest quality I've ever experienced - Really, I've used better looking towels to dry the dog- really thin and one even had holes in! Strangely, the pool towels were excellent quality. The Hotel Du Park is not a bad place - just not all it's cracked up to be and certainly NOT a 4 star - No room service whatsoever & extremely limited hours serving food - We'd likely go elsewhere when we return to Sirmione which is a wonderful place.

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of June 2010,myself,husband and 11 year old daughter. It was our first time abroad as a family. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming. The reception staff spoke good English and were very helpful. The room was clean and there was plenty of space for the three of us sharing. We did need to ask for more pillows as only one each was provided. The swimming pool was lovely with plenty of sun loungers. We stayed half board and found the restaurant good.Breakfast was help yourself with a good selection of continental and hot food every day,the only minus point that the milk was UHT and not fresh. There was plenty of choice for the evening meal and we thoroughly enjoyed the food.
If I was going again to the same area I think I would prefer a hotel in Sirmione itself as it was a good 40 mins walk to the old town. There was a complimentary minbus service to Sirmione from the hotel but it was not that frequent. My only negative point about our stay was a couple of disturbed nights due to noise from a bar/club close to the hotel which went on till 1 or 2am.Otherwise we had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would recommend Lake Garda as a place to visit!

The hotel Du Parc doesn't quite live up to the brochure pictures any more. It perhaps was once a 4 star hotel but is now a bit 'tired' and in need of an overhaul. Having said that, our bathroom was lovely, both in size and quality. The bedroom itself was fairly 'average' but we had no view whatsoever from the balcony. (Room 149)
The food was 'fine' - but the comlimtenary wine and water every night was a bonus because the bar/lounge area was small and there weren't really any other cafes/bars in the immediate vicinity. We missed our first evening meal because of a flight delay (we arrived at 11.30pm) and it would have been a nice gesture if the hotel had left something for us to eat or drink instead of being greeted by an unsmiling bar waitress who made it clear that she wanted to get cleared up and off to bed.
Columbare, the small town within easy walking distance, has shops, restaurants, and a lovely walk along the lakeside. I
I's a pleasant walk into Sirmione from the Hotel Du Parc, which is good because the courtesy bus isn't very regular, but we felt that that the ferry costs were expensive, and it was difficult to get to/from other places on the lake. Having stayed on lake Garda a few times before we prefer to be further up the lake (Garda/Bardolino or Limone/Malcesine) mainly for accessibility.
