“A cut above the average ristorante menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

Well patronised, this fairly small restaurant serves an extensive and varied menu of freshly cooked food and a good selection of wines. Reserve a table, or you may find yourself disappointed.

“Good local trattoria”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 30, 2012

We had one evening meal at La Fiasca. The people were friendly, the service OK (if a little slow), the food was good and the wine list reasonable. Overall, a pleasant place to eat with a good atmosphere.

“You can find better”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2012

We arrived early and the place filled up quickly. The starters were good, my wife having crusty scallops (pan seared). I had sole with prawns that had a strange taste, my wife has duck breasts in port wine sauce, the duck breast was very large and slightly overdone, the sauce unremarkable. However, the service level was really slow - way beyond acceptable. We found better the next night just a few minutes away.

“It will only deliver your expectations - which shouldn't be excessive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 1, 2012 via mobile

We watched this restaurant fill up from opening (7.30pm) until we secured a reservation at 9.15pm. Seemed very popular so we went with the flow. Ill-informed move as it turned out; no research so we deserved what we got.

Which was bland, mediumly-expensive food worthy of no great mention.

The warm octopus and asparagus salad which my husband and I shared, was bland to the point of being un-identifiable.

My main course, pasta fruits de mer, was again, pleasant enough but nothing noteworthy; in fact it was drab at best but not bad enough to reject. My husband's Fritto Mista augured a more promising result when presented but proved equally disappointing. The 'mixed seafood' comprised prawns, prawns and more prawns. Or perhaps they were scampi or gamberi or shrimp or whatever. Bottom line, the 'mixed' selection was extremely limited.

But the most frustrating issue from my husband's perspective was that nothing was shelled; the seafood had been dusted in batter (cornflour?) and deep fried - heads, tails, shells intact. He couldn't cope with this so I ended up with his exoskeleton-heavy dish whilst he chomped through my pasta.

Bread - unrequested - was surprisingly good but no condiments (i.e. oil & vinegar / parmigiano) provided.

This was our first night in Sermione so no idea how it compares to other venues but judged on its own merits it needs work.

Price for one starter, two mains, one side of vegetables & bottle of prosecco; €65 which was far more reasonable than Venice at least.
