“Excellent location, friendly staff, clean rooms”
Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

A last minute booking, we chose the hotel for its location, which is excellent! Away from the crowds of the old town but walking distance back into town as well as to the Catullo grotto and the town's thermal spas.

Hotel is out of date but exceptionally clean and tidy. Staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet is expansive and unexpected.

We were expecting a room with three beds but were pleased to find a king size bed and a little snug room attached with bunk beds which delighted our 3 year old no end. There was also a little balcony and uninterrupted views out over the lake

Free parking and wi-fi (throughout the hotel) was a bonus.

Nice 2nd floor lake view and a perfect location near the oldtown. Very clean and a bit worn out. We don't really speak Italian, but could manage easily with stuff like everywhere. Older crumpy guy at the reception turned out to be very helpful after a little chat. Nice pool. Restaurant was closed at the time.

Room Tip: 2nd floor to the east.

We totally agree with the last five reviews. This is a a hotel in an exceptional location. We had the pool to ourselves for two days. The breakfast is truly sumptuous. Take your time and indulge in everything on offer. You won't need to eat again until late evening. One day soon this hotel will be in other hands, and will lose it's unique charm. Enjoy it while you can.

We were two couples and stayed at Hotel Mon Repos in two double rooms overlooking Lake Garda for three nights at the end of May.

There's been little updating of room furnishings. The beds are reasonably comfortable and the room rather small, but there's a nice balcony area with a small table and two chairs. You'll find a small flat screen TV, good air conditioning and a very strong ceiling fan. Overall, the rooms aren't memorable, but they and the bathroom are clean. There's a small corner shower and bidet. We reported a problem with our shower hose the first morning and it was fixed before we returned that afternoon - responsive. The hallways are dark and depressing - a lighter coat of paint and replacing the strange green color on the doors could help.

All this might add up to a 3 star rating, but, Hotel Mon Repos get an extra star from me based on their location, breakfast and service alone. There's freshly prepared eggs to order, sliced meats and a remarkable spread of delicious pastries. The breakfast room and attached sitting area is in a great location overlooking Lake Garda. There are spacious grounds and a pool that should warm up well by mid-June. It's still cool in late May. The touristy, but charming old Sirmione is a 5 minute stroll. It's a good place for families and especially during the hot summer months, being in a "park" is great. FYI, iIf you have bad knees, the short, but steep hill near the hotel will slow you down a bit.

Our rate was 110 Euro, but by mid summer the rates rise to 140 Euro - not bad in a popular area. We will return for relaxing around the pool, having a breakfast and visiting town for a late dinner. Get a lake view room (East) on the second floor for uninterruped views over the olive grove. It's a great get away location.

Room Tip: Lake view & 2nd floor - 1st floor is OK

Stayed in this hotel for a week in September with my sister. Small quaint hotel, rather old-fashioned decor and small rooms but excellent location, cleanliness and breakfasts! The pool area is nice and it is so easy to walk into town for a meal in the evening. The location is quiet...a little way out of town so not crowded or noisy! Ask for a room with a lake view..so peaceful...

We stayed at Mon Repos for 1 night. Its a great family run hotel. The owner was very welcoming and showed us around the hotel. Its in a great location on the end on the peninsular overlooking Lake Garda. The hotel may be a little old fashioned but the rooms very clean, air conditioned and comfortable with a lovely bathroom and a balcony. The breakfast the next morning was lovely, As much as you wanted to eat and great variety of food. The hotel had a very nice swimming pool and its only a short walk into the town. All in all its a very nice hotel in a great location.

This is right out on the point into the Lake therefore virtually no traffic although in 5 mins you are back in Simione main square for dinner and ice cream. Its next to the Roman ruins and Maria Callas's villa. Nearby 5* hotel charges same for one night as a week here! Family run with extended family using the garden and pool when we were there. Below the hotel runs a small 'park' adding to peace. The views over the Lake (from a good size balcony with a table and chairs) were lovely. It's old fashioned and if you want to completely relax circa 1970 style - lie by the small unheated pool in the pretty garden (pet rabbits flopped about) or inside in the wee lounge then this is just perfect. You can take the water taxi to the southern resorts round the Lake for dinner. Good for adults wanting to chill for a week eg. before the hubub of Venice. We took a taxi up to the station and train into Venice for second week.
