My husband and I had a fantastic time at this cooking class. Moreno is a fine person who shows great passion for cooking and teaching. We now are confident in making homemade pasta and various sauces. Moreno's family has lived in the area for nearly 1000 years. We were privileged to hear about various italian family traditions and their way of life. Thank you Moreno!

We so enjoyed our day I the class. We had our family of four along with another family of four from Sweden. Moreno's family have owned the restaurant for many generations. His passion for the local area and cooking comes through. I am a big cook and so enjoyed learning how to make pasta and risotto the right way. My teenage children enjoyed it also. We enjoyed the company, food and education greatly. Great value when you consider you are eating a large meal with wine also.

A great day.

Chef Moreno picked us up in Varenna, took us to his charming old restaurant in the hills, and had us chatting and cooking and eating (and a little bit of drinking) for the whole day. We learned how to make our own fresh pasta, and why this is the only way to make it! We also made gnocchi, mixing the dough together, cutting the little parcels and learning how to give them the ridges and indent that makes them look professional. My girlfriend - who had always thought of gnocchi as too doughy and dull - was converted to how delicious this dish can be when properly made. The final dish was a risotto, which Chef Moreno made while we watched and learned.

Just to watch a man who has been a chef for over 35 years and see how he chops and prepares is a real treat and has immediately helped my own cooking with ideas, confidence and inspiration.

As highly recommended as everyone else says.

Like many of the other reviews, we were picked-up in the piazza in Varenna and spent most of the day having a super experience with Moreno learning not only about Italian cooking but also Italian living!!! We had our experience the week before Christmas (2012) and it was only our family of five (5). Moreno provided for us one of the most magical / memorable experiences that our family have had while living ing Europe. . . truly amazing. We would encourage any families visiting Lake Como / Varenna area to enjoy this experience the memories will last a lifetime . . . Prego Moreno . . . Ciao!

My husband and I attended Chef Moreno's class and had a wonderful time. Our class had 12 people in it from different countries. Moreno explained the history of his family recipes and then demonstrated how to cook it. No one was forced to put on an apron and roll out noodles, etc. There was plenty of wine for those who wanted to "observe". We have never tasted a risotto like Moreno's...the butter is definitely the secret. We made pasta, tortelloni, and a vegetable sauce. The best part was being able to eat and enjoy the warmth from the fireplace in the dining room. We never felt rushed and spent at least 6 hours at this class. Everyone received a certificate and a booklet of recipes at the end of the class. We stayed at Moreno's bed and breakfast (Ca Noeva) for four nights and ate at his restaurant two nights. Moreno and Rosella opened their doors with warm Italian hospitality and it was a memorable part of our three weeks in Italy. We highly recommend this class. If you don't have a car, Moreno drives you to town to catch the train or ferry. Verenna is a great town to explore the Lake Como area. If you go, definitely attend Chef Morenno's cooking class!
