We had pre-booked dinner here on the basis of Trip Advisor reviews, and quite liked it. If there is a hint of reservation in my review, too, I think the lack of atmosphere is probably to blame. I can easily appreciate that this tastefully decorated bistro gets busy, but I think we probably played it too safe by getting there at 7.15pm – the only diners present. Dimly lit surroundings need people to come to life!
Despite being tucked out of the way down a little side street, it was quite easy to find: a really attractive, 15th Century building with rough stone walls and exposed wooden beams inside. You’d probably be right to choose Natta Café as a great little venue for a romantic meal for two.
‘Mine host’ greeted us immediately and showed us to a pleasant table on the first-floor mezzanine. He was friendly, and knowledgeable about his food and drink. After a few days of holiday feasting, my wife and I didn’t fancy anything too heavy, so opted for pasta and dessert. My creamy pasta with salmon was delicious, her lasagne ‘fine’ without being extra special (maybe we eat lasagne too often at home!) and her dessert lovely (I can’t be more help here, other than to say that all the desserts looked really tasty).
Overall we enjoyed a very pleasant dining experience here: great service, excellent value (surprisingly inexpensive for Como), good food and a top choice of wines and beers. Just be sure to hit the right times for optimum atmosphere...
