It doesn't look like much and the lockout time is a bit annoying, but it really is worth it! Breakfast is included in the price (bread, coffee, juice, cereal) as is wifi in the garden and dining room. It it literally 2 mins around the corner from some of the most gorgeous buildings on Lake Como and the staff are SO lovely. The husband and wife are so caring and lovely - the man acts as chef/bar person/all rounder and it was like having a family looking after you in Como! In terms of the price of other accommodation vs location and cleanliness - this really wins out. It is about an easy 15 minute walk to the main Como S Giovanni station. Would definitely come back here and recommend!

If you dou don't mind the male-female dorm seperation, this place is just perfect. The staff is nice, the rooms and showers are clean, and the breakfast is great, with full of aroma Italian coffee. We recommend it with all our hearts.

This is one of the best hostels that I stayed in during a recent trip to Italy - clean rooms with lots of air, lockers, garden, good showers, food on offer very good. Very friendly, trusting and patient staff with a wealth of info and tips. Seems to be a family-run hostel.

25 minutes walk from downtown Como, Lago di Nord Como train station and Como bus station, 15 minutes from Como San Giovanni train station. Bus stops outside hostel - costs €1.25 into town

No charges for wi-fi, 50c for 15 minutes to use their computer.

Drawbacks are almost incessant traffic noise, hostel closed with no access between 10 and 4 and no cold food or drink storage.

Room Tip: North West side is noisiest.

This was our third visit and the first time we had stayed in the family room. Very quiet, clean, spacious, but what makes Villa Olmo Hostel so special is the incredibly lovely family running it. The husband is a terrific chef, his delightful wife (or another lady, possibly their daughter?) is the first point of contact for guests. They are both extremely welcoming and the food is terrific and extremely well priced. This year they have expanded on the free breakfast and now offer even more. The evening meal is a must have option.

I have stayed at this place twice now, once in 1998 and once in 2009. Same owners. The lady that runs the place is very helpful and friendly. She has a wealth of info on touristy things to do. The rooms were clean. Off street parking is available fortunately. Nice place. Unfortunately had to sleep in the men's dorm and couldn't be with my partner, no exception to this rule.
