Hotel Tre Re is conveniently located in the centre of Como near the cathedral and two minutes walk to the lake. We spent two nights here in September. Staff were helpful and friendly. Rooms were clean but not particularly modern. Our room was quite large but there were only two of us in a triple room. Breakfast was pretty average but the coffee was good. Since I don't spend much time in the hotel room when I'm on holiday, I'd stay here again.

This is a lovely little hotel in the centre of como town. Nearby you will find lots of shops and restaurants and a supermarket just opposite.

The location is great for trips to other parts of Lake como such as Menaggio and Bellagio.

The ferry port is 2 minutes walk from the hotel so very convenient if you want to explore the whole area by ferry. We did a day trip and bought ferry tickets that allowed unlimitted one day travel.

The hotel itself is old style. the staff are very friendly and helpful and speak English.

There is a safe in the rooms for storing valuables and a small TV, but virtually no English channels.

Breakfast is simple european fare with a good selection, croissants, pastries, bread, cheese, boiled eggs, quiche, flavoured yogurts, fruits, salad plus a few other things.

Car parking is a problem in como, but the hotel offers a car park at a cost of 15 Euros per day which includes taking care of the ZTL.

Rooms are clean and cleaned daily.

A bit noisy at night and the walls don't stop much noise, i.e. I could hear someone snoring in the next room :)

I expected a kettle and tea/coffee supplied in line with most three star hotels, but none in this one. Had to buy tea at the bar for 3.50 Euro's per cup, so quite expensive.

Funicular is 10 minute walk and definitely worth going.

Super transport links, within 5-10 minutes walking distance, e.g. train, buses, ferry.

Overall a great hotel and a central location with plently to do in the evening too, and a great base to explore the whole of Lake Como.

Room tip: Very Nice gelataria if you turn left out of the hotel on the corner. 2 minute walk to the ferry terminal.

My mother who was a guest in the hotel had to be hospitalized.
The help, the care the advice the personal touch were much more than ANYTHING you can ask for in a hotel.
In addition, the hotel has a lot of charm. It's right in the center of the hold city meters away from the shopping street.
Great breakfast and very clean rooms.

We've stayed here before and it has hardly changed. You can imagine travellers staying here in the 1960s as the decor is still the same - dark wood, lots of marble and silk flowers on a pedestal. The breakfast room had a vaulted ceiling with marble pillars and in a dark wooden glass cabinet were the signs of times gone by. It was full of silver items such as sugar bowls, teapots and cream jugs. The hotel seem to be stumbling into the 21st century by having wi-fi and over 800 TV channels - unfortunately only one in an English language - CNN. The room folder only lists 11 channels so the new TV must be a recent addition. Our room was a good size, but unfortunately overlooking the courtyard which doubles as a small car park. Not good if you were unlucky enough to be in the hotel at the same time as a party of Swedes - with the emphasis on party. Also we had to go down about 15 steps to get to the room. The whole hotel is a rabbit warren of corridors and stairways however it can accommodate disabled tourists. Breakfast was served in one of the dining rooms (there were at least two) and was a bit disappointing as they frequently ran out of items and we had to wait for a refill if available. OK if you came down early but not so good for us late sleepers. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our towels and pillowcases were changed every day! It also provided sufficient bars of soap! The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. A great atmosphere.

Room tip: Best to avoid overlooking the entrance
