“Central location near ferries”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 8, 2007

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Bellagio and stayed in a lovely room with a partial lake view.
Our room was a reasonable size and the bed was really comfortable. Room temperature was excellent unlike some hotel rooms which can be too hot!
Reception staff were always helpful and polite.
We booked a hire car for the week but did not use it as the ferries were so reliable and much better than driving the narrow mountainous roads. In fact if we had known how easy it was to travel by train and ferry to Bellagio we wouldnt have bothered with a car as the trains run regularly from Bergamo to Varenna from where you can get one one of the regular ferries to Bellagio.
Highlight of the week was a visit to Villa Carlotta

We spent two nights at the Hotel Bellagio and enjoyed our experience. We arrived past midnight and were very impressed that the porter was waiting for us outside in the street to carry our luggage up the 30 or so stairs to the hotel. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel, our room, the breakfast and most importantly the view. However, the room was incredibly small and the bed was hard as a board. Our bathroom was large and nice but these were the only downfalls. Overall though, we absolutely loved Bellagio and Lake Como and it was our favorite place on our six city trip through Europe!! Considering the fact, that there are very few hotels in Bellagio, we would recommend Hotel Bellagio and perhaps stay there again.

This was the end of a 10 day break in Italy, which started of in Pisa, then Florence, Bologna, Venice, Verona and finally 4 nights in Bellagio. We wanted a lot from this location, and we got everything we expected and more.
The hotel is rated as a 2 star boutique which is misleading as we had stayed in 2 star hotels in other cities and this was easily 3 star superior and more. There was a swimming pool available off site with a free shuttle bus, discount for dinner at a neighbouring hotel, air con, a good breakfast with the best croissants of our trip and great views of the lake. This doesn't sound like 2 star material.
I spent a lot of time researching which village to stay in at the lake and which hotel. Bellagio was the best choice by far. It has ferry services on a regular basis with excellent shops and restaurants. Antico Pozzo was our favourite. The hotel did not let us down either. We paid 155 euros a night for a double room with lake view. When you compare this to many other hotels in the town you will see that this is a real bargian.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Bellagio for seven nights in Jun/Jul of this year. This hotel went through an extensive remodeling a couple of years ago (according to the front desk personnel). Our room was on the top floor in the corner - #404. It offered great views of Lake Como. The hotel was exceptionally clean, and quiet for the most part. We did hear some noise from the streets below, but it was virtually quiet after 11PM at night. The hotel staff were very cordial and helpful.

The Hotel Bellagio is conveniently located within steps of the lake. Be aware that Bellagio is all steep steps,so be prepared! You could be shopping, dining, viewing, etc. within a few steps out the door. Our room was comfortable and clean with the basic necessities. The hotel appears completely new inside. We had a partial lake view from our little balcony, but if you book the upper floors, your view will be delightful. The rates were awesome. The breakfast was typical bed and breakfast food and just average for selection compared to other hotels we stayed in. The staff acted non-plussed by our presence. Each time we asked a question, the staff acted like they hadn't heard it before and didn't know the answer. The TV service went off quite a lot, so after long days walking and touring, this was frustrating, although when on, there were a number of English channels, which is awesome. The is a terrific price, great location and convenient. The hotel's photos on this site are accurate.

While our stay in Bellagio was lovely, the hotel was not even average. It was dirty (especially the bathroom, which really matters). The bed was extremely hard and the room poorly lighted. We travel extensively, and this is the first time we have ever tried to change hotels upon arrival--but no luck, everything was booked. We made the best of it, but I feel I must write an honest review. Breakfast was a few burned croissants and hard buns with cereal. The coffee and OJ were good. The staff were distant and uninvolved, didn't even greet you as you passed through the tiny lobby. I would not recommend this hotel.
