We booked a room in the Hotel Metropole for our Ruby Wedding Holiday on the advice of a friend who I must add, had only seen the Hotel from the Lake.
We paid extra to have a Lake Front View Room with balcony on an upper floor .
The room (apart from the view) was a disappointment. Two single beds and not enough room for two of us to pass at the foot of the beds. I know there is a mark up for Bellagio but I'm afraid the room wasn't worth what we paid and then we had to pay another 20 euros tax for staying for 7 nights.
The Terrace restaurant was beautiful but beware the Maitre d' . I was not allowed to join my wife at her table unless I followed him all around the restaurant. The other waiters were quite embarrassed by his attitude and we were moved by them to the best table in the restaurant.
The food was fine but not outstanding like the view.
The balcony was also very small . Just room for two very small stools and hopefully like us you will have pleasant 'balcony friends' on the adjacent balcony about 1 metre away.
The Metropole is very handy for the ferry office and landing stages .More
