“The same high standards”
Reviewed June 9, 2014

Little has changed here since our last visit a couple of years ago and all the better for that in the sense that the earlier superlatives still hold true, if our 6 night break in May was anything to go by.Excellent service all round - some acheivement as far as reception is concerned - given that the front desk was often besieged by guests requiring help with myriad minor queries. Pristine housekeeping standards always in evidence. The situation of the hotel ,provided that you are modestly fit,is unbeatable in Bellagio as it lies just outside the centre of the village but within easy (uphill) walking distance of the busy lake promenade.
Our so called comfort room with patio overlooking the eastern arm of the lake was just that having recently been heavily refurbished in a contemporary style. These rooms are ideal if you like almost immediate access to the immaculately maintained pool and sun platform as any traipsing around post(and pre) swim is avoided and the rooms are quite sizeable by Italian standards.Very good quality flat panel TV with BBC World as the only English language channel unfortunately. Not that you'll be watching it much look you!
Stayed on half board terms this time around.Glad that we did as the overall food quality at dinner was very good veering towards towards excellent, although on the first night ( a Wednesday) the cusine was way below par perhaps because they had a very large tour party in the dining room or their usual chef may have had a night off or both.Fortunately the usual high standards resumed from Thursday onwards.Impeccable service in the restaurant throughout. Good selection at the largely help yourself breakfast.Another admittedly minor item that has, unfortunately in this instance, not changed was the very poor quality of the coffee. The tea was better and perfectly drinkable if nothing to write home about.Comprehensive Italian only wine list specialising in Valtellina and Piedmont.Prices have firmed up quite a bit but remain relatively good value by local standards. All the staff are helpful and go out of their way to ensure maximum guest comfort even when they are extremely busy which is much of the time! On a related point the fast ferry prices from Como have risen sharply since 2012 so the cost of a direct taxi transfer from Milan Linate to Bellagio is now more realistic.

Room Tip: THe classic rooms at the front of the hotel facing the hill offer good value and are more spacious t...

We started our two week Italian journey at The Hotel Belvedere in Bellagio. The hotel staff were wonderful and accommodating, all so eager to help in any way possible. The only glitch was our first night when our room was very small and literally we're tripping over the luggage to walk. That being said, we were moved to another room the next day. This room(110), was beautiful with a massive balcony overlooking one of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen. It is a five to ten minute walk to town which was very easy. Please take time to use the pool and spa as it was truly invigorating. If you want a great time, take a sunset boat ride from Bellagio Water taxis....amazing.

The village of Bellagio has to be one of the most beautiful in Europe and this hotel is in the very best spot. The view of the wonderful Lake Como from the room was breathtaking and the walk from the hotel into the town was just a delight. The room was Lake View and was spacious and fairly well appointed. The bathroom was not large but was adequate and the servicing of the room was excellent (twice daily - towels refreshed in the evening). Breakfasts were taken in the restaurant overlooking the pool and lake, making it difficult to concentrate on the breakfast itself (which was actually excellent). However an evening meal taken in the same restaurant was expensive and rather disappointing, especially given the profusion of reasonable and excellent restaurants in the town.

There was no iron or ironing board in the room and on enquiry we were informed that the only ironing room was available for use but a staff member would have to let us in!! A strange omission given the cheap cost of irons and the size of the hotel.

The reception staff were very pleasant and most informative and assistance was available for tours and directions. This is an expensive hotel but given the location that is not surprising. As usual, you get what you pay for. We hope to be back.

Room Tip: A lake view room may be expensive but is worth it every time you look out the window.

We loved this hotel and gave up on touring in order to just relax and enjoy the views and facilities of the hotel. Not only is this picture from our room and balcony, but same view from restaurant and breakfast room. I can't say enough for the staff especially Georgio, our waiter, what a wonderful man- fluent in English and German as well as Italian. We had a small issue and the manager couldn't do enough to help us with it- offered to give us Prosecco is large quantity to make up for an issue that really may have been our fault. The service is great, the food wonderful and I just can't say enough about our room. If you want a lovely relaxing quiet place to stay away from the throngs of tourists- come to the Belvedere- it was our happiest memory of Italy. Thanks so much to everyone who made our 20th wedding anniversary magical!
Splurge a little with a great room in this hotel- can't say enough about our lake front suite!

Room Tip: Room with Lake Views and if you can afford it, get a balcony- the views are wonderful of the Lake an...

We stayed here for a short weekend break at the end of May. We were very lucky with the weather so the views with the sun on the lake were just breathtaking. I had booked a junior suite directly with the hotel, not through a booking website, and so I don't know if that was the reason or not, but we got upgraded to the Tower suite at the top of the hotel on arrival. This was fantastic, with its own private sun terrace and views from every angle. However when we come back (because we will if we can!) when we are older, we may choose not to opt for this because the bed is on a mezzanine so if you need to use the bathroom in the night you have to negotiate wooden stairs.
The pool was wonderful and kept absolutely clean and there was a very good sized infinity pool type jacuzzi over looking the lake - wonderful. My husband also had saunas in the immaculate and seemingly underused spa.
We booked a half board deal because we weren't completely sure how easy the walk was into town - I have a bad back and it can play up. I need not have worried, the town is very close by, and in future, although the food at the hotel was quite good ( sme dishes better than others), we would opt instead to eat out at one of the many restaurants in town.

As others have said, it is a little bit of heaven. The view from our balcony could have been a postcard, it was so breathtaking. The staff are wonderful; courteous and polite and always accommodating. Our room was bright and furnished with lovely period furniture. Twice daily maid service and everything immaculately clean. It was a very relaxing atmosphere and prefect for us; not too fussy but beautiful and classic.

The hotel is located up the hill, a short ten minute walk from the center of town. It was the right mix of having a quiet hotel while still enjoying the benefits of a town nearby.

In my opinion it is the perfect hotel for your Bellagio/Lake Como vacation.

We arrived at about 7.30 PM and the manager Laura Molinari told us that the computer had a little problem with our reservation, but we do not have to worrie, because we are receiving an up grade. Another person show us 2 different suites, one on the top of the tower ( amazing view) and another one...that we have no ideia where, because we fall in love for the first one. Unfurtunelly the suite had been painted recently and it smeled strongly. In the morning I told laura about this problem and she changed us to PARADISE! Yes, paradise! 5 balconys, I could not belive when we entered the suite! Our view was amazing. From the roon we could see the lake, the gardens, the patio and the the hotel front ! Sun everywhere! We have a solarium that had 2 long chairs and 2 chairs where we could stay resting with no disturbing at all!
The breakfast is perfect, I had never had a natural yogourt like that one, so creamy. We had dinner there and it was fabulous, they have a great selection of wines too.
The only thing that I have to say is that we want to come back again for this hotel and we want to stay in the same room! Ask for suite 102, the paradise! Thank for the entire crew!
After traveling for more than 20 days in France and part of Italy, we lefth Bellagio in Como Lake for the end of the trip, and I can afirm that is the best of all.

Room Tip: All the apts and suites are very good, but 102 is amazing!!!
