Our first holiday in the Italian Lakes. Traveled here from Gargnano on Garda on 03 June after 6 nights there at a small family run Albergo. Although that was three star, the likenesses ended there. The Belvedere is undoubtedly a luxury hotel, particularly if you have one of the rooms with a large balcony, sunbeds and table, chairs. You could also have a patio version of the same. We were offered both, the patio style having a larger bedroom. We chose the balcony (room 106) because of the brilliant views. However a rota was needed to get dressed or changed as the room was really too small. But our choice. I think the hotel has 64 rooms, some face inland and others North, Our's was obviously facing East so no sun PM, but the grounds and pool area, sun deck, make this a redundant issue. The staff were very efficient and spoke very good English which made my attempts with poor Italian of no purpose, but to me that is part of the fun of being on holiday. I suppose that is why we do not really like this type of hotel. Too impersonal, too expensive, too interested in their own convenience? Why do I say that? A big minus for us is that Breakfast and dinner al fresco is a no no. Yes on a beautiful position with lovely sunshine you are cooped up in the dinning room. OK, windows spotless and they do open a door!
Why? Well ostensibly because there are rooms beneath the dining terrace and I suppose they worry that chatter of diners would be a problem. However, my view is that most guests would like to dine al fresco including those in those rooms. I think there are logistic reasons involved and that they are not prepared to change. Several guests other than us were heard to request breakfast outside, but no joy.
When we booked by email, we were offered "a candle lit dinner for two" in the terrace restaurant for Eu 65 ea. A trifle costly, but should be something special no. That's right-no. Actually, it was no more than a normal a la carte meal in the restaurant along with twenty odd other couples with tables for two by the windows overlooking the lake. We made sure we paid for what we had-not the price quoted! However, the meal was truly excellent and the best one of the holiday from the food and wine viewpoint. Not al fresco though!
Breakfasts the 5 mornings there were OK, but not up to our Albergo on lake Garda. Two mornings the scrambled eggs were decidedly luke-warm to cold (pointed out to maitre'D). Croissants were only the Italian type with sweet fillings. Limited choice of fruit juices.
As said, staff very efficient and doing a god job, but for us this hotel is overpriced, too impersonal and like many hotels wherever you may be. It happens to be in a lovely village on Lake Como-and knows it!

Room Tip: Large balcony rooms on first floor facing East, but actual rooms on small side.

Just returned from a few nights stay at this stunning hotel, very friendly staff, very clean, comfortable and fantastic food. Cannot recommend this hotel enough. Views, pool, restaurant, all fantastic quality. Perfect location just up from Bellagio town but within 2min walking distance. We will be returning next year!

We stayed three nights here recently, unfortunately our experience at check-in was chaotic as at least two other couples were checking-in at the same time. The reception area was crammed and the receptionist did not have much time for us. We were taken to our room but not told anything about the hotel (apart from today's Spa special). There's very little hotel information in the room so we came back down to look around for ourselves and discover the dining room, lounge, bar and pool area. The parking is directly outside the hotel and is safe, so it is not necessary to pay 25 euros per day to park in the garage. The hotel is exceptionally clean, the room fine but the bathroom dated with one of those awful "cling on" shower curtains to contend with! I know it has a three star rating but it is not three star prices! Obviously, the view is great but ask for a higher floor room if you can. On arrival, we asked for an iron and board to be sent to our room - this request was flatly refused as the hotel provides a laundry service (expensive too). We have never ever had this request refused in the many hotels we have stayed in - laundry service or not! On our way to Lake Como, we stayed at the wonderful d'Angleterre in Geneva and were actually offered an iron and board upon our arrival. We took a few shirts to the local laundry (five mins away) and they were ironed for us the same day at half the price the hotel charged. So, not a great start to a special occasion celebration but we can see past that and overall, we enjoyed our stay, especially the lovely pool area. Other than the breakfast, we did not eat in the hotel as it has the atmosphere of a hotel dining room and not a restaurant. We chose this hotel because of TA reviews and it does have some good points but we would probably stay elsewhere if we came back to Bellagio.
A local lady told us of her favourite place - Osteria Alle Darsene - we went for lunch and it was fabulous! It's a short walk through the lovely gardens (around 4 euros) on the other side of the Lido. The restaurant is on the left as you come out of the gardens and has a terrace opposite. We would never have found this place without her recommendation and it is well worth the little walk. The Bellagio Water Taxi tour was very good (take your shoes off before boarding Luca's boat and he will relax!) Bellagio is lovely and very relaxing so enjoy!

Room Tip: Higher rooms have a better view of the Lake.

What a wonderful hotel this is. A stunning view is the first thing that strikes you - Bellagio, in particular at this hotel, is a great place to stay. The rooms are great - ours overlooked the lake (as I think all do) and are very pleasantly decorated with a lovely sunbathing area outside. The staff are also wonderful, and the breakfast decent. Finally, the one downside of Bellagio is that the restaurants are really not that great, although we arrived after a week in Tuscany and it was always going to be difficult to match that. All together though, this hotel comes strongly recommended.

We stayed at this wonderful hotel on a recent visit to Bellagio. It is ideally located, a very short walk from the centre of Bellagio. When we entered the hotel, the high level of customer service was immediately apparent. We were offered a welcome drink, whilst checking in and were accompanied to the car park by a member of staff. We were then accompanied to our room by a member of the reception team, where we were given an overview of the room and the hotel. The room was spotless, stylish and well equipped. The lake view was amazing. The high level of customer service continued throughout the hotel, at the pool, terrace areas and restaurant. We were very satisfied with our stay. This hotel has a 3 star rating and it far exceeded our expectations. The personal attention to detail of the hotel owners and staff is very evident. We will definitely use this hotel again and would highly recommend it.

This was the favorite hotel on our trip, and the rest were at least 4 star. I don't know why it has only 3. It is slightly away from the main part of town, which avoids crowds and noise outside the window, yet close enough to be in the middle of things in a few minutes walk. The food in the dining room was very good, and our rooms were large enough, quiet, clean and comfortable. The view of Lake Como is gorgeous because the hotel is on a hill .... and they even arranged a double rainbow for us as well as snow on the distant Alps.

Room Tip: I think all have views of the lake. We were on the fourth floor and had no trees to block the view.
