We were looking for a place to relax and enjoy Lake Como for 3 nights. Bellagio is a wonderful small town to use as a base because it is quiet and picturesque, yet has enough good shops and restaurants to be fun to explore. The hotel is set up on a hill, about a 5-10 minute walk from the center of town. If you arrive by ferry, the hotel will send a golf cart to pick you up. With luggage, it would be a bit of a hike. We arrived by car. Beware that the last part of the road to Bellagio is narrow and twists along the side of a mountain, with many tight curves. Once you arrive and check your car, you don't need it. Bellagio is connected by ferry to all the other towns on the lake. We had a room with balcony, which had a wonderful view of the lake. The room was a nice size, very clean, with a spotless bathroom that had a window with a lake view. The hotel serves a nice breakfast, and the restaurant is open for dinner. It has a nice view and the food is good, but there are other options in town just as good. There a pool, big enough for lap swimming, and the view from the pool deck is amazing. The lake and mountains stretch out in front of you. There is a small spa near the pool with services like massage available. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for those willing to walk a bit to get to town. The advantage is that once you are back at the hotel after a day of shopping or ferry rides to explore Lake Como, you can sit on your balcony with a drink from the hotel bar, and enjoy the peace and quiet, and that wonderful view.

Everything was excellent.Even moved from a large superior room with lake view which was great to one of the small rooms with small bathroom with lake view but with a massive balcony on first floor which was also great.

Food excellent ,wine list always on time and if they ran out at breakfast it was soon restocked.

All staff were helpful and friendly. We will return.

If you walk around bellagio you can walk the slopes of the hotel easily

Plenty of sunbeds with excellent pool and sevice.Just wallow in the jacuzzi and look at the lake

Room Tip: First floor over dining room gives large balcony with table .2 chairs and 2 sunbeds

From the street, this hotel looks completely unimpressive; however, the property is drop dead gorgeous from the other side. It commands a magnificent view of the lake. The late afternoon light was dreamy. The pool and infinity hot tub look out over this view, providing a relaxing end of a day of touring Lago de Como. The hotel also has a lovely spa. The pool staff was most attentive, as was the hotel staff in general.

If you are staying there, you must have a lake view. Otherwise you will lose the charm of the hotel. We were upgraded to a large room with its own grassy terrace. Room amenities (bath, furniture, bedding etc) were impeccable.

The hotel is a five minute walk from the center of Bellagio. Some may prefer to stay on the strip of hotels by the ferry docks. I actually preferred this location which was quieter, but close enough not to discourage a walk into town.

Room Tip: chose a lake view room.

Spent eight days here in late August/early September. Couldn't say anything but good about the location, comfort, facilities and food. The pool and associated facilities were excellent. The library in the grounds was a lovely secluded place to work and read. The hotel's strap-line is that it has been run by five generations of women since 1880, and clearly they have made the hotel what it is. I can't think of a better place to stay for a relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: 206 was a nice room with shower and balcony on 2nd floor over looking the lake

First the positives regarding this hotel. The reception staff are very friendly and helpful. On phoning the hotel on arrival at the ferry station, they sent someone to collect us and our luggage. Our room was down the hill from the main buildings, so extremely quiet as you are well away from the road. The room was a good size, clean, well appointed and with a lovely balcony overlooking the lake and fishing village.

Now the negatives. Because we were down the hill, getting to reception, breakfast room, etc., was either a trek through the grounds to a lift, or a hike up a very steep driveway. As part of our package we chose to have a dinner in the hotel - food was very average. Lots of staff rushing around, but service was slow. My husband asked to see the wine list - it never did come. Breakfast was OK, but things often ran out. Trying to connect to WiFi was a nightmare and would constantly drop out halfway through an email.

The hotel is a 10 minute walk into town. We found Bellagio very busy, lots of large tour groups and shops geared to the tourist. We had spent the previous 4 nights in Varenna, which we just loved.

We stayed at the Belvedere for our honeymoon in the beginning of August. At that time, with the exchange rate, it ended up being about $450 USD per night. We had read the reviews and were very excited about staying there. We thought the Belvedere was very nice. It was obviously in a gorgeous location. The people there were very nice and helpful. We didn't feel, however, that it was worth $450 a night. Our room was comfortable and had a beautiful view, but it wasn't deluxe by any stretch of the imagination. It felt dated...the A/C was minimally effective (the other places we stayed were less than half the price and had amazing AC units in the rooms,) the mini-fridge was old and there was an old TV just sitting on top of it (other places we stayed had the TV in a lovely armoire, for example.) There wasn't room to hang anything long in the armoire and the hangars were the type that you can't 'steal' - in other words, not a proper hangar. The sheets were basic - not lovely, or soft, or even pretty. The bathroom was tiny and the shower/tub was miniature. There were not bathrobes or slippers. I was very surprised, and disappointed. For the price we paid, and compared to the other places we stayed (and have stayed) that were much less expensive, the Belvedere, though very nice, honestly didn't compare. As I said, the people were very nice, but next time, I'd probably pay more for a place that had amenities that matched the price or...somewhere less expensive and better appointed.

Quite simply the nicest hotel. charming and attentive service, lovely rooms, exquisite views. Perfect. There are hotels closer to the centre of Bellagio but this hotel is well worth the five minute walk. you will not be disappointed

Room Tip: you don't need a superior room to have a balcony but the lake facing rooms with view are perfect
