Housed in a building dating from the early 1500's which used to be a convent, La Pergola is only 10 mins. walking distance from the center of Bellagio without the noise and congestion!
I stayed two nights from April 27th-April 29th, 2005 in a room on the 2nd floor.
The rooms are basic but charming with a small bathroom and shower shoe-horned into the rooms. The floors are covered in a Tuscan red tile and the beds are woodcarved.
There is a private balcony for the room overlooking Lake Como. You can sit out on the balcony in the morning and watch the mist roll off the lake.
The hotel also has a restaurant outside on the lake shore which serves good filling meals for a reasonable price, making it a favourite not just of the guests but of the local people of Pescallo and Bellagio.
The architechture of the building is nearly the same as when it was a convent, retaining its low arched ceilings and frescos. The simmetry of the building and its rooms is relaxing after a hard day of touring
We had no trouble with any of the staff when arriving or leaving.
It was a very nice place to stay and rest by the lake, away from the noise of Bellagio.More
