“Best Gellato we had in Italy!”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

Loved it! They have fresh homemade cones, too. We ate there every day we were in Bellagio, sometimes more than once. They will let you sample flavors, but every one that we tried was great!

“A Stracciatella Dream Revisited”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

Years ago, we had our first stracciatella gelato here. On discovery, we made the climb every day, sometimes a couple of times a day, to get another.

This stracciatella is perfectly fluffy with a milky-cream flavor with just a tease of vanilla, and just enough crispy chocolate flakes in it.

Since then we've put on 10 pounds trying to repeat the experience with no luck. A rough guess would be 100 tried in 50 different places, with nothing even close. Until you've tried THIS stracciatella, its just another flavor...

So with some credibility, we can say this may be the best gelato stracciatella in in the world.

The rest of the flavors here may also be good, but we wouldn't know. You don't order wine at the Hofbräuhaus.

“Delicious!”
Reviewed May 22, 2012

A fantastic choice of gelato flavours from good old chocolate & pistachio to a yummy Baci inspired creation. If you have the chance to go more than once (they open early & close late) check out the other delight sin the fridge and the ice cream sandwiches.

“The best gelato shop in Bellagio”
Reviewed May 3, 2012

On our recent trip to Lake Como, we spent some time exploring the town of Bellagio. I asked one of the locals where I could find the best gelato shop in town and was directed to Gelateria del Borgo.

If you are on the water front in Bellagio, the easiest way to get there is to look for the large arch over the one-way road Lungo Lario Manzoni. Walk toward the arch from the ferry dock and when you get there, look to your right and you will see a very long flight of stairs going up the hill (passage is named Salita Serbelloni). Climb up the hill to the top until you see a brick wall in front of you and a restaurant on your left named Trattoria San Giacomo. Go up the small flight up stairs on your right to reach Via Giuseppi Garibaldi. Turn left when you get on Via Garibaldi and walk a short distance to find Gelateria del Borgo on your right (see picture).

We happened to arrive just after school was letting out and there was a large group of 6 year old children waiting to get their gelato. After tasting the gelato, I can understand why they were so excited to be there.

There are many different varieties of gelato available and the ladies behind the counter are friendly and efficient. Asking about the different flavors in English is no problem as their English is excellent. You won't be disappointed with the incredible gelato.

Next door to Gelateria del Borgo is a shoe store where you can get excellent deals on Italian leather boots and all kinds of fashionable shoes.

“Ice Cream at the top of the Hill”
Reviewed May 1, 2012

It's worth the climb to get a two scoop cone of gelato here. I believe it cost 2 euros! Good flavor and variety. They seemed to stay open at night later than some of the other shops.
