“Excellent Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2009

We were married in Bellagio in September, 2009. We stayed in room 45 (their best room). The room was beautiful and the views were even better. The location is right on the waterfront and is close to everything. The bar and restaurant is outside just in front of the hotel. It certainly had the liveliest and best atmosphere of any of the waterfront bars/restaurants. You also have access to their excellent rooftop. They also have another, more modern hotel in Bellagio with pool, spa, restaurant ect. They have a free shuttle to the second place and you have access to everything there. Can't comment on that part as we never did make it there. Also, not sure if they still have this deal, but if you book and pay for the room ahead of time through their website, it was cheaper than any of the hotel booking companies. We stayed 5 nights and loved it.

I just returned from my second visit to Bellagio. This time it was a honeymoon with my new husband. He had never been to Italy, and after a cruise along the Italian coast, we were booked into my favorite hotel, the Hotel du Lac in Bellagio, owned and operated by the wonderful Leone family. Our room with a balcony overlooking the mountains to the west and the incredible Lake Como convinced my husband that this is the most beautiful place in the world. The trip was made so much easier because I made a reservation with Milan Davidovic, owner of ComoLimo to meet us at Linate. His wonderful driver, Ava, met us and treated us to the scenic route with two stops, one at the Cycle Museum and another from the top of the overlook in Bellagio. We hope this will be an annual holiday, no matter where we decide to travel in Europe, it will hopefully always culminate in a visit to Hotel du Lac and Lake Como.

My daughter was getting married in the nearby town of Varenna. We had considered having the wedding at Hotel du Lac but decided on the Villa Cipressi. However we did decide to have the exteded group to stay the night before at Hotel du Lac. The hotel could not have been more accomodating. Our group was arriving on different ferries and were checking in at various times. The hotel made sure our rooms were in proximity and hadlakeviews. Lunch was wonderful under the awning looking at Lake Como. Drinks after dinner were fun and relaxing. The next day we were given well wishes and we all wished we had another night at the Hotel du Lac. Great breakfast too and beautiful public veranda on upper floor. I want to go back!

My wife and I arrived early evening by boat. Hotel is adjacent to the ferry terminal so none of Bellagio's very steep streets to negotiate. Very quick check in and directed to room which overlooked the lake. All very clean with large spotless bathroom plenty of towels which were replaced daily if required. Reception staff very helpful throughout our stay. Included buffet breakfast very good.Hotel had two restaurants and a bar which we understood were not run by the hotel. Again food very good and we ate there on three evenings. Bellagio has a number of other restaurants which are worth a visit. Nothing in Bellagio seems to be cheap so the cost of the hotel and meals was no real surprise. We had decided not to hire a car and we were able to do all we wanted by ferry for the week we were there. Travel by boat and train from Bellagio to Malpensa airport took about two hours with another 30 mins to get from Malpensa train station to terminal 2.

We stayed at the hotel recently and had a wonderful stay. We were allocated room 60 on the 5th floor (superior room ). The room was large as was the bathroom, we had a small terrace which overlooked the rooftops and side view of the lake. The room was a little tired but was very clean and tidy, it had air con and a fridge, we stocked up on cold drinks from the supermarket as that was much cheaper. We used the roof terrace, this is also on level 5, it is small but sufficient and has the most amazing views of the lake. Breakfast was good, bacon & eggs ( boiled or scrambelled ) choice of cereals, pastries, cold meats and cheese, fruit and yogourts, plenty of coffee and hot milk............The location is opposite the ferry terminal so comes in handy when you have had a long day sight seeing, you can stroll off the boat straight into the hotel. Bellagio is a beautiful spot, very romantic, but can be a little quiet once all the dat trippers have gone back on the last ferry. Como is a busy town with lots of great shops and eating places, be sure to visit if you want to shop...................Saturday is market day.
Mennagio is also worth visiting ( we had the best ice cream here ) small window in the street opposite the small square, may have been a gift shop of some sort. We got on the little train here which took us on a 40 min ride to Villa Carlotta ( a must See ).....................
Also little train runs in Bellagio and is worth the ride, also Villa Melzi is beautiful, especially the gardens etc.
We passed George Clooneys Villa on the lake, be sure to ask the boat staff to point it out for you.
All in all i can highly reccomend Lake Como, stay in Como if you prefer more going on ( day trips to Milan ) etc or Bellagio if you want somewhere special and exclusive.

My wife and I spent two nights at the Hotel du Lac, and we couldn't have been happier about the location or the service. The hotel is perfectly situated in the center of the main promenade. Our room had air conditioning and a great view of the beautiful lake. In addition, the hotel employees who served us were helpful and courteous. They didn't even charge us for a few phone calls we made from the room after we had checked out.

We spent nearly a month in Europe, and we both felt that this hotel was one of the best we stayed in during that time.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Du Lac. We were fortunate enough to be blessed with one of the 3rd floor rooms that had a wonderful little terrace overlooking Lake Come. Room was quite spacious and the bathroom was very clean. Not sure what the other rooms are like that don't look over the lake. Every staff member we had contact with were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good. Location is second to none (as long as you like people watching). A Four Seasons or Ritz it is not but for the price I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel.

Bellagio is a quaint little town that is very enjoyable in the evening once all the day trippers depart for the day. Some neat little restaurants and coffee bars. Do be sure to take the ferries and explore the other little lake side communities that are close by.
