Two separate stays in September... a Saturday night and a Tuesday night... on both occasions, I had a room at the 'front' of the hotel, that is, looking towards the railway station and MacDonalds. No problem the Saturday night but Tuesday night the road noise went on well into the night and started early the next morning.

Five reception staff encountered, four of whom were very pleasant. Staff at breakfast were not quite in the same league... Both bedrooms (second and first floors) were acceptable - it is a three star hotel, not four, and Bergamo accommodation is a little pricey.

As a previous reviewer has mentioned, make sure you use the airport - city bus ticket again to take the funicular up to Citta Alta.

We stayed at the hotel for 1 night. Arrived at Orio airport and got the bus to the railway station, the hotel is easy to find just across the road. There is a tourist information by the station which has good information leaflets on the town in English. Check-in was OK. Internet in the lobby only 1 euro for 20 minutes.

The room was quite small (no 47). Minibar only had soft drinks in, although the room smelled of wine! No kettle or supplies for hot drinks. It was very hot and we couldn’t turn on air conditioning (which showed the temperature was 28 degrees) until we contacted reception and they turned it on: the on/off is controlled centrally but then you could adjust it to your liking.

The hotel was clean except for thick dust on the radiator. The bathroom window was open and was too high to shut. Heard no real road noise from the bedroom. Shower was on its own, a different door from the bathroom (no bath), bit odd.

We booked online on a hotel booking website. Booked a few weeks in advance and paid in full on the website. Went to Citta Alta, which is well worth the time to visit, and we were able to leave luggage at the hotel during the day before we caught the train to Milan.

Liked: Low price for a decent hotel.
Disliked: Air con had to be turned on centrally.

Having booked a cheap flight from Milan- Bergamo to Budapest i then took on the task of finding a hotel that was decent in price and would make it easy for us to travel to the airport to catch a very early flight.

I had read some bad reviews on this hotel but the convenience was what I needed and if we endured a sub hotel for one night it was ok. But that wasn't the experience. We arrived by train and easily found the hotel across the street. Checking in was different because it was the first hotel that wanted to keep my passport - for security reasons they needed a copy. This was bothersome to me.

We inquired about places to eat and they were not so helpful. But I sent a nephew out to scour the area and he found a pizza place about two blocks away. We walked past some interesting events - a fight and a bar but it added to the experience. We ordered the pizza with finger pointing and waited. There is a McDonalds across the street but the boys had used their one McDonalds meal on the trip already.

The room was pleasant. Finding a decent triple can be challenging. This had more than enough space and one of the largest bathrooms we had on the trip. There was no free wifi which I had been lead to believe it had.

But the whole reason we were there was to catch a flight the next morning. I had asked the staff how to catch the bus and again they gave very little information. But we walked across the street and just watched others with suitcases and followed their lead. We bought the tickets and luckily had enough Euro coins to do so. The bus was a quick and cheap way to get to the airport.

I would say that this was at equal or better than a good American hotel. The staff could be a bit more informative but we found Italians were often less likely to communicate details. The cost of the hotel was less than others I found to have easy airport access.

I would recommend this hotel if you are flying out of the Milan-Bergamo hotel. Just have Euro coins to pay for your bus ticket because the machine is located outside the train station.

Stayed one night at the Hotel Piemontese and enjoyed it very much. Don't know if our extra big corner room was one of the nicer ones but it was excellent with a big comfortable bed, huge bathroom with big shower stall, great air conditioner and nice view. Breakfast (cold buffet) was very nice with good variety of usual items; rolls, pastries, jam, cold cuts, cheese, yogurt, coffee and juices. This hotel is directly across the square from the train station making it extremely convenient if traveling by train. The hotel is also across the street from a McDonald's which can sometimes be very handy. Only two negatives to mention: the extraordinarily small elevator (lift) which barely holds two people, not to mention two people with luggage. We would have taken the stairs but they are extremely narrow, steep and spiraled making it virtually impossible to use especially with luggage. The other negative was the woman at the front desk on day shift while we were there the day we arrived and left. While she was quite efficient, her attitude left a lot to be desired and she always made us feel like we were bothering her by being there. Otherwise, this is a great hotel in a very good location.

My friend and I stayed here between the dates of 20th and 22nd July 2009. The hotel is clean and basic, with a TV and Air Conditioning in the room. The staff are friendly and helpful and their recommendation of the La Ciotola for a well priced, extremely delicious and good quality meal was much appreciated.
The hotel is very easy to find, when you get to the airport buy yourself a 3 day bus ticket (5euros) and get on bus no 1, this will take you to the Bergamo Train station, get off the bus there and the hotel is just opposite 2 minute walk maximum.
You can then use the bus ticket for the rest of your stay to take you all over Bergamo on the busses including the funicular which is well worth a ride on.
All in all this hotel is an excellent base for a short shopping trip to Bergamo.
