“Cosy family run hotel in the center”

With the fountain right outside the building you imagine yourself in a hotel right next to the Trevi. Nice, friendly, helpful staff. Good location on the Main Street in citta alta just off of piazza vecchia.

A privately owned hotel with a multi-award winning restaurant. Rather pricey for a two-starred hotel, however, the lady-owner was very pleasant as one of her young daughters who kindly showed me the room on the 4th floor before booking it. A real Italian family-run business.

I thought that this looked a great place to stay - and it's certainly in a brilliant location - yes there's a 'but' coming. We (3 couples) stayed on our way to Verona, and again on the way home last week (July 2). Don't stay here when it's hot, and go to Albergo II Sole which is just a few metres along the street, where they were much more helpful. Whilst I don't mind there being no air conditioning, friends of mine found it extremely uncomfortable, and the hotel staff wouldn't let them have a fan. They said that 2 fans had broken that day, and only rooms on the 5th floor (attic rooms) were allowed fans. We asked if we could use the fan in the reception area during the night, but the receptionist said she would have to check with the Manager, but wouldn't know till evening - so they went to the II Sole. Surely, with prices over €90 per room they could afford to buy some fans - at least one for every bedroom, and a spare. I would think twice about staying here again, I didn't think they were at all friendly or service focused. Disappointed.

The hotel is located in the center of Alta Citta (Upper/Old Town), a very short walk from the furnicular and the town square Piazza Vecchia - location could not be better! The rooms (at least 313, 314 and 315) are ok in size, the bathrooms are spacious and very clean. The beds were a bit hard but for me, hard is better than soft. Staff friendly and accomodating. Breakfast is typical Italian style - croissants, white bread, jam, Nutella, juice, coffee. If you want a huge breakfast this is not the place. Overall a very nice stay at this hotel - check out the overcluttered walls in the lobby - pretty cool!

The hotel is just a 5 min walk from the funicular and a 2 min walk from the centre - Piazza Vecchia. It has nice, not big-sized rooms, which are very comfortable. From my room I could see the street below with cafe tables where the locals sat drinking their beer (or wine) and playing cards. And the golden statue on the Duomo was right in front of me. And the church bells! The hotel also has a restaurant where they serve some local specialties (very tasty) and a very good wine. The staff are very nice, hospitable, helpful. I greatly enjoyed my stay there and wish I could stay longer.

This hotel is right in the centre of the old town of Bergamo. On the plus side this means its close to everything. On the down side it does make it noisy - not just cars on the cobbled streets but people etc if you are facing the front of the hotel.

We were staying in Bergamo to catch a flight the next morning - I would definitely recomment visiting the town as it's beautiful. The hotel is clean and comfortable and had everything you would need if you want just a base. The staff were pleasant enough but the lady who did the front desk did look at us everytime we went in as though we were complete strangers who she had never seen. She didn't effuse warmth and welcoming like the previous hotel.

Parking is a bit of a nightmare - there are two residents only zones which you can ask the hotel for a pass for but they are tiny and you will wait a long time for a space. We parked in the pay and display and moved the car when the day trippers had gone home. Breakfast was ok. not a massive choice but a breadroll and some cereal. The wifi is also €3 per hour which is charged to your room.

So not bad but not fantastic and a friendlier service might push it above ok.

We've stayed here twice. It is a beautiful old style albergo. A tall narrow building right in the heart of the enchanting Citta Alta of Bergamo. If you are looking for all mod cons, sauna, spa, pool etc; this is not the hotel for you. However, the Agnello d'Oro has plenty of atmosphere and charm.

The rooms are a reasonable size, clean, neat and tidy with an ensuite. The only nod to the modern world is a TV.

The Citta Alta, itself is a beautiful walled town on the top of a hill. It has several excellent restaurants and bars. An excellent place to spend an evening.
