We were down in October 16th to celebrate our friends birthday and we had the best experience with the food and service they were warm and accommodating . It was like going to a family restaurant, it felt like home.
The city was beautiful and there people also.
I'm very happy that I went to Bergamo.

i have little to add. it was a great experience. i was forced to walk up the very steep san vigilio because i was not allowed in the funicular with my 2 dogs. anyway, the restaurant is in a very beautiful palazzo and enjoys an even more beautiful terrace, where we ate overlooking the valley. i had a risotto with white truffle and it was a very generous serving. service was prompt and friendly. considering the quality, the price is very reasonable.

This restaurant was mentioned by our tour guide on a day trip to Bergamo and it didn't disappoint. A quiet location with stunning views over the Citta Alta.
We had a fixed price lunch that comprised bread, a choice of main course, dessert, wine, water and coffee. All this for E25pp - exceptional value. In addition there were amuse bouche to delight.
The food was of excellent quality, interesting and well presented. I had a steak that was beautifully cooked. It was served with tapenade decorated with herbs and braised artichokes with a lightly cooked Italian cheese on top. On the side was a small dish of black salt. My dessert of a passion fruit parfait was totally delicious. Service was well paced and attentive.
I can heartily recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the city.

This really was quite an experience. My girlfriend and I arrived at the restaurant at about 7.30 on a Friday evening. The whole place was empty but almost every table was reserved. The restaurant has a lovely outdoor seating area with great views over the city but unfortunately all the outdoor tables were taken so we took a table inside, which was still very nice. By 8.30 the whole place was packed with a very friendly atmosphere and wonderful ambience.

The food was fantastic from start to finish. The bread to start was accompanied by gazpacho which was unusual and absolutely delicious. The starters (flower aubergines with ricotta cheese and basil, Spanish bresaola and salami) were unique and very tasty. Simple main course consisted of sausage pasta and a very well prepared steak.

The starters / mains were so delicious we had to order a desert (even though we were both very pleasantly filled). The desert was an Apple Cake which was beautiful. The desert was preceded by a ricotta pudding and followed by cherrys and honey (neither of which were requested or charged for).

The meal was accompanied by a lovely bottle of red which was recommended by the waitress and which was very reasonably priced.

By the end we were very full but very happy. We would certainly recommend to anyone who happens to be lucky enough to visit Bergamo.

Understated luxury, yet refined ambience and excellent food and superb local wine! The choice of wines is amazing. Celebrating my birthday at Baretto on May 7th was an experience I will cherish. A tip : Try the zouppe di Frangola as a desert.
