“Very good Spaghetti Pomodoro”
Reviewed August 27, 2012

Da Franco is regularly our first stop for a quick, casual bite in Bergamo. It is a bustling place with lots of staff and speedy service. In Summer there is a little terrace out front and inside a very nice space. The menu is quite extensive and strong on Pizza but I would recommend the oven baked aubergine with melted cheese (the name escapes me) and the Spaghetti Pomodoro is really good. The bread is baked on the premises and served with very good Olive oil.

“A so-so restaurant”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

This restaurant looked appealing but didn't quite live up to expectations. The service was a little slow and not as attentive as expected. One meal was excellent (tagliata manzo) - the beef was wonderfully tender and beautifully cooked. The other meal (misto gratinato) unfortunately was overcooked which obviously spoled the seafood. However the half litre of house white wine was delicious!

“Good food & service at reasonable price in area”
Reviewed August 12, 2012

We had a wonderful dinner at this restaurant. Compared to other restaurants in Citta Alta, this restaurant has reasonable prices. Red wine was amazing. Polenta with mushrooms was great. It has a good sea food variety as well. Overall very good food & service.
Definately recommended

“Good value in a tourist area”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

A good choice when in the Città Alta.

I went in summer, and by 8 pm the outside terrace was packed, and the inside starting to fill up. There are three inner areas, one interior, one with an open roof and, where I was seated, a small inner courtyard. Somewhat enclosed, but with an impressive bell-tower to gaze up at (on one side - washing on clotheslines on the other). The outdoor terrace at the front is jollier, if you can get seated there.

The pizza I had was good quality (with fresh porcini) and not too overwhelming in size.

The clientele were a mixture of foreign and Italian tourists, and locals, from what I could tell. The atmosphere was relaxed and efficient.

The meal was very good value considering the zone.
