We stayed here a few weeks ago for three nights and really loved it. I was very surprised when we got to the room to find how spacious it was. We felt we had hit the jackpot! Very high ceilings add to the charm of this well-preserved old building. (Our days of staying in cramped spaces are over.) The room is extremely quiet at night which is amazing considering how close it is to the main piazza of the historic center - just cut through an alley across from the front door and you walk right into the piazza. (Tip - the gelateria on your right in the piazza when you cut through this alley is delicious.) No problems with the wifi.

Gianmauro could not have been more helpful and accommodating. He helped us arrange for a tennis lesson down in the lower city and gave very helpful directions on how to get there. He was also a great source for restaurant tips. Also, I always appreciate it when the owner and family live in the same building as was the case here. We got to meet his charming wife and adorable son each morning at breakfast as they said "Ciao" to papa on the way to school.

Very highly recommended. Suggestion: Book directly with him - not through a third party site. I always prefer to book directly with the B&B - that way they don't have to pay a booking fee. One note - he had trouble a few times receiving an email from our Comcast address. If you're emailing him and not getting a response, that might be the problem.

We stayed at the Casa Mario Lupo B&B for 2 nights. Gianmauro is a wonderful host and gentleman. The room was spacious and spotless. The room had facilities for cooking and also a refrigerator if required. The bathroom is good. The B&B is housed in a 16th century building with lots of character and charm. It is also central to the key sites of the old city of Bergamo which is a pleasure to walk. Would definitely stay again.

We stayed for two nights in this fantastic B&B, located in the centre of the wonderful old city of Bergamo. The apartment was spacious, ideal for 2 adults and 2 small children, and full of character. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful without being overbearing. The breakfast was fantastic. Cannot wait to return!

We spent four wonderful nights in Bergamo Citta Alta at the end of our trip through Italy. Casa Mario Lupo is the perfect place to relax and enjoy beautiful Bergamo's narrow cobbled streets, ancient buildings and funicular rail lines. We (2 adults, 2 children, 1 a teenager) were in the Venus and Saturn apartment. Located in a very old building with lots of space and comfortable beds, the apartment has two living rooms and separate sleeping areas; the kids really loved sleeping in the loft. And the best part .... a kettle for making tea and coffee. Gold for anyone who enjoys hot tea after a day walking around the Citta Alta in the snow enjoying the magnificent views!

Gianmauro, the owner of this family run B&B, is a great host. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with him over breakfasts of traditional Italian fare, which was more than enough to get you started for a day's sight seeing. Nothing was ever too much trouble for Gianmauro, which made Casa Mario Lupo the perfect place to stay at the end our trip. We will certainly be back to enjoy wonderful Italian hospitality and history.

Don't bother to spend any more time searching for a great place to stay in Bergamo, this is it!

We (family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers) spent a fabulous 2 nights in this wonderful accommodation, in the absolute heart of Bergamo's Old City in January. The Old City is simply magical, cobbled streets, ancient buildings and magic views - and Casa Mario Lupo could not be any more central.

We stayed in the Saturn and Venus apartment which was very spacious, with everything we could possibly need, separate kitchen, two living areas, separate sleeping areas. The apartment is part of a very large (and very old house) although with its own entrance and hallway, you would never know. If a B&B is usually too impersonal for you, don't worry at all. This property offers the charm of staying in a historic building in the Old City without the feeling that you are in a stranger's spare room! It's not tlike that at all.

A word of advice though - don't arrive by car, after dark with no map!

Gianmauro was extremely helpful and friendly throughout the entire bookiing proces, welcoming when we arrived, helped with our luggage and recommended great restaurants. Breakfast was a traditional Italian affair, satisfied us for a day of sightseeing.

This property offers an experience, not just a place to spend the night - Italian hospitality, history and a magnificient setting. We willl return!
