“Fantastic setting”
Reviewed June 17, 2012

Just spent a very enjoyable day walking around the Hanbury Botanic Gardens in Italy. We were very fortunate to get a guided tour from the curator which brought the garden to life and provided us with a lot of the history of the garden and its founder Sir Thomas Hanbury. The garden is on quite a steep slope so some sensible walking shoes are required. There is a nice cafe/bar at the bottom of the garden by the sea and is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the sunshine before the walk back up. For anybody who is interested in flowers the garden is a must if you are in the area.

“A touch of Victorian enterprise”
Reviewed June 7, 2012

Set on the slopes of Capo Mortola the 45 acres of tropical gardens are a riot of aloes, agaves, yuccas and cacti plus other plants brought from all over the world during Victorian times and more recently. The variety is enormous and the two trails well worth following with occasional diversions when something catches the eye. The Victorian founder and the family that has continued his work have provided a peaceful haven with as much choice as will be found in any similar gardens. Although some might find the paths steep there are sufficient terraces to catch ones breath and when we were there we were able to visit an exhibition in the house half way down the slopes, of photographs from its earliest times. There is a basic cafe at the foot of the slopes to recharge ones batteries before returning to the top.

“Fantastic Gardens”
Reviewed May 9, 2012

A must visit on your list if in the area. It needs almost a whole day to do justice to these lovely gardens, particularly if you are a keen gardener yourself. Two slight snags and one has already been mentioned, is the parking as there are only a few places on a fairly busy road. The second is that the day we were there several parties of very noisy school children were there, spoiling the peaceful atmosphere by running around and shouting. None of them were the least bit interested in seeing a garden and one wonders why teachers bring them there.

If you are in that area do not miss it.

“The one”
Reviewed January 12, 2012

One of the best exotic garden all over... The sight is amazing in all seasons(maybe better spring and summer)... I've also been there for a music cultural event and I cam say for sure that's the most amazing place of its style
