Hotel Santa Margherita Palace
Certificate of Excellence

Stay at this hotel for 3 nights in early October, and must admit it was a pleasant stay. The rooms are a good size and a large bathroom, both ultra modern which is in keeping with the rest of the hotel. It is located about 200m from the waterfront, and whilst it doesn't have any views it is a very nice hotel. The service was generally pleasant, Monica was great, very helpful. I did have a couple a complaints, bed was ultra hard, harder than the average European bed. Breakfast service left a bit to be desired, they didn't speak much English so that may have been a contributing factor. They need to get rid of the white line lights around the doors of the rooms, it's a bit tacky. All in all, a good hotel, and would probably stay there again.

Room Tip: From what I could see all rooms are all pretty good.

What a cool hotel! Very new, decorated in a mod and stylish manner. The staff was wonderful and efficient. We had a larger room with a separate seating area, worth the money. The "disco elevator" is fun, and helpful to folks with limited mobility. Great outdoor seating area in front. Close to beach, restaurants, shops, cinema, gelato, bars, and train station. They do provide parking/valet. I loved it. I can't wait to return to wonderful SML and stay again!

Room Tip: 202 is a junior suite with big bed. No views. Decently removed from the elevator, which runs quiet...

We had 2 nights in Santa Margherita Ligure and truly enjoyed the stay in this hotel. From the moment we stepped into the reception the staff took very good care of use. Especially Monica was the star among the staff. Not only having noticed that we would like the room with a terasse (we got 103 which had been commented by other reviewers) but also taking us to the room. There was some repair going on when we arrived and she spotted some items in the bathroom that were not as they were supposed to be, she appologized and when we returned after dinner there was a bottle of chilled prosecco waiting for us in the room on the house. The second evening where we had been unlucky with the service in a restaurant, she served a couple of espressos in the garden.

We also got very good advice on the walk to Portofino and where to look for the signs away from the road.

We had Alberto from the hotel parking our car and we had by mistake left a mobile phone in the car. Less than 10 minutes after we called the reception Monica delivered it in person to the room.

We loved the town, the hotel, the staff and the service. Do stay here if you like designer hotels.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a terasse if have the superior category.

Great new hotel in the center of Santa Margherita Ligure. A nice town with lots of things going on and close to Portofino as well as Rapallo. Good breakfast for an Italian hotel in that category. The rooms are in a minimalistic design, but beautiful.

They will solve your parking nightmare, so don't even try it yourself - at least not in the summer. You can get easily to the 5 terre by boat or any other town along the coast.

I'll go back there.

My partner and i stayed at this hotel about 6 weeks ago and while we were there went shopping. Unfortunately, we left some new items in the room and have been trying ever since to retrieve them. We have telephoned at least 20 times and e-mailed. The woman in the office called Monica asked me to authorise payment for postage for my credit card which i did and she promised to send the items we brought. Weeks have gone by and still nothing received despite lots of calls. I have been very polite at all times but each time i call she either pretends she cannot hear me and then cuts me off or if i manage to get her to speak she asks me to hold on then cuts me off. When i call back she just cuts me off before i can speak. Obviously this is very frustrating and rude and I find Monica totally unprofessional. This is a shame as we had a very nice time at the hotel and this has totally spoiled the experience for me.

Stayed for 6 days and just got back. New hotel that is very close to the train station so we rolled our luggage to/from the hotel. Also 2 blocks from the centre of town on the water. Fantastic breakfast staff. We had a suite #103 which also has a terrace. We originally were in #303 but that did not have a terrace so they moved us the next day.

Only improvement can be on the initial greeting from the front desk. As we got there and walked towards them, they just looked at us, looked down and kept working until we arrived at the desk. There was no one else there at the time so I think they need to work on that aspect. Other than that, they were efficient and accomodating in our requests and questions.

Outside looks good and has a nice terrace in the front where you can also have breakfast or you can hang out. Inside, the look is very modern with clean lines but is very comfortable. Doors are a bit unusual in that they have a row of led white lights around each one. However, they are solid and thick so no noise comes in from the hallways. Also, the location is quiet so you can get a good nights sleep.

Overall, we were very pleased with this hotel and the location.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a terrace. We had a suite #103 with the terrace and started in #303 without one...
