“Magical hotel ... Unbelievable service”
Reviewed November 4, 2013 via mobile

Grand Hotel Miramare was a wonderful surprise on our Italian Adventure. Beautiful property and the restaurant and breakfast are world class.
The staff is pleasant and took care of our every need.
It is one of the best places I have ever stayed and the price was definitely right.
Do not hesitate to stay here and take the lovely walk to Portofino!!!

Just back from a few nights in the Italian riveria .. Staying in the classic Grand Hotel Miramare. The Hotel is perfectly located overlooking Ligurian Sea and only a 30 minute coastal walk to the quaint fishing village of Portofino. Book a sea view with balony ... Well worth the extra few euros! Rooms are just perfect and the breakfast unforgetable ( which included champagne!)
Carparking expensive at 25 euro a night ... But prices in the hotel were reasonable given the 5 star rating and its location on the most expensive part of the italian cost ( 3 euro for coffee... Which IS reasonable).
Some nice resturants a few minutes walk from hotel most overlooking the harbour of Santa Margherita... Enjoy!

Room Tip: Book sea view but also book a balcony! (Some sea view rooms do not have a balcony)

We arrived at this hotel unexpectedly. We were supposed to stay in Zoagli (closeby beach) but ended up heading to Portofino to sleep. Found this georgeous castle on the way and turned out to had a great price. Service was OUTSTANDING, from the receptionist to the manager. Hotel is perfect, beautiful, luxurious, well located, beautiful ocean view. We forgot our passports and had to come back to pick them up after a 3 hour car drive. Manager had our passports and had tried to locate us to let us know. He gave us a reduced price room for the second night in a row and we enjoyed every single moment of that great hotel again. Santa Margherite is beautiful and is walking distance from Portofino. Stay here and walk to crazy Portofino for some hours and then come back to this paradise. Take a walk/jog through the costanera and enjoy an ocean swim in the mediterranean. It was a great break among the crazy Venice-Florence-Rome tourism for us. Dont forget to have dinner at Alfredo's, the best restaurant. Ate there for 2 nights in a row.

Room Tip: rooms with ocean view are unforgetable. Try to get the side room with a side ocean view and pool vi...

This first class hotel was beautifully maintained, gave superb service, was modern yet classic, and had great food. We enjoyed a sea view room, with balcony for 2 nights while in Santa Margherita. The hotel is walking distance from Portofino and the local shopping and restaurants of Santa Margherita. I will not hesitate to recommend this hotel and will stay again if we return to the Italian Riviera.

Room Tip: We had a sea view balcony overlooking the street. Noise was only an issue if we left the French do...

Great hotel in a great, sleepy resort town. Would def. stay again. Good restaurant recs, nice bar, and breakfast.

Our room was by the elevator and we could hear it at night, make sure not to get that room, but the room was very nice and the Junior Suite was nice overlooking the garden(sea rooms were booked up).

Walking into the GHM felt like being on the set of a Cary Grant film. Nothing seems to have changed here for years - very elegant, beautifully presented with well-dressed and charming staff. Our ocean-view room was delightfully luxurious and so was the bathroom. Drinks near the pool with a fabulous sea view were very special. Breakfast on the front verandah was enjoyable and indulgent. The ferry to Portofino is a pleasant 10 minute stroll away and the train station for visiting the Cinque Terra is around a 20 minute walk. We had to drop our hire car at Rapallo and were appalled to be asked a fixed price 25 euros for the 3 km taxi ride back to Santa Margherita! However, we were quite happy to pay the15 euros for the nice black Mercedes that the hotel arranged for us to take us to the station when we left for Milan. A great hotel which has retained the elegance and charm many others could only wish for.

Wow what an ideal and perfect place to finish our holiday. 5 minutes drive (although wouldnt do that again when you are used to driving on the other side of the road, take the bus!!) to beautiful Portifino.
Santa Margherita is a perfect spot to stay with very friendly locals and fantastic restaurants and vistas. This hotel offered everything you could want and made the best coffee! I am a travel agent and will be sure to recommend this hotel. My husband and I and my brother and sister-in-law all loved this hotel. Make sure you go for walks both left and right from this excellent location. Also the Hotel has a little walk up behind it where you get a nice view.

Room Tip: You must choose the sea view its unforgetable.
