“Perfect Small Hotel on the Ocean Promenande”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 17, 2013

My wife and I spent several nights at the Vesuvio and loved it. The room was small, but comfortable, with a great view of the ocean promenade. It's in the center of town and great restaurants are a few steps away. The staff was friendly and very helpful. This a charming, small hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on one of the upper floors facing the ocean.

We enjoyed our 7 night stay at Hotel Vesuvio.
Rapallo is a great choice to base yourself to explore the other towns nearby easily by day trips- including the Cinque Terre. I like Rapallo because it’s a bit larger than the towns of Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino so has more to offer.
The location is good with an easy walk to the train station and the ferry stop is right out front. We had a corner room # 403 on 4th floor with two balconies looking out over the bay. We didn’t have an issue with the noise from outside with the doors and shutters closed it’s just a hum and didn’t disturb our sleep.
The room is simple, painted white and the bathroom is kept very clean with shower over bath setup which is tight (hard to keep the water in), so not for large people. Breakfast was simple, included in the room rate and serviced in the cafe next to reception with great coffee made as you like and served to your table.
The hotel is centrally located on the bay, with lots of choice for restaurants and cafes along the promenade just out front and in the streets behind. (As others have mentioned Nettuno is excellent)
I think WiFi should be free these days, so unfortunate there is a fee payable here.

Room Tip: Room on high floor.

Rooms are ok, furnishings, bathroom facilities, towels, bedsheets etc – all in decent condition; helpful stuff; overall I wouldn’t really know what to say in particular of this hotel if there was not one big “BUT” already mentioned by previous reviewers. Well yes, the hotel is on the front line and the rooms do have the sea-view; but the price for that is the noise I couldn’t deal with – there was no way I would close the windows and turn the air-conditioning on as I wanted to enjoy the sea air and cool nights after synthetic office atmosphere most of us live in 5 days a week; but even if I’d done so – it wouldn’t have helped a lot.
The night-club (or bar or whatever it is) is located in the same building (or next door; I couldn’t figure it out; but it does not make much difference anyway). On Friday they turn on some old-dated techno (with speakers outside in the street) and if you plan to go to sleep before 1 a.m. – forget it; it’s like trying to sleep in a night club. Other days are none the better: if it’s not the music – it’s endless Italian chatting in the same bar, street noise (the hotel is facing quite a busy road) and occasional trashing sounds from a restaurant near-by (I don’t know what it was exactly by it sounded like someone was violently throwing boxes with empty bottles on the ground – and this one you can enjoy from 7 a.m. till 1 a.m.).
The staff is aware of the noise problem, they try to do their best to resolve it (like one night after my complaint one of the managers went to ask the guys at the bar to keep their voices down) but it’s not really their fault and they cannot do much about it. May be if you choose a non-sea view room it’ll be better, but from my understanding of the hotel’s position the only alternative is to face the wall of the building behind it.
Well like I said, noise is the only issue, apart from that – pretty nice hotel.

We stayed for 3 nights in the Vesuvio hotel in Rappalo and enjoyed it very much.

Location: right in the middle of the promenade with beautiful views of the beaches.
The only downside is that there is a dancing bar near the hotel and there is loud music on the weekends until very late.
We didn't mind it but people who are sensitive to noise should be aware of that.

The room was nice, very clean, nice bathroom and good towles.

The breakfast was a regular continental one, nothing special.

If you come with a car you should ask to reserve a parking place since the hotel has only two parking places (10 Euro per day).

The only negative remark I have is that they charge you 4 Euro PER HOUR which was the highest rate we ever paid for the use of the WIFI/

Room Tip: Room 203 is a corner one with two belconies

Just arrived back from excellent stay at this family run hotel.Have to agree with most of the reviews by saying that the location of the hotel, the cleanliness of the rooms and the help given by the manager and his staff was excellent.
We stayed in room 203 which was a corner room with balcony, nice size room with double wardrobe and desk/chair. We had a large double bed which was very comfortable. There is also a tv in the room and wi-fi is available for €11 per day.Towels and bedding where changed each day when needed. The bath and shower are a little on the small side ras has been mentioned in past reviews but would not be put off by this if we wished to stay again in the future.
The manager of the hotel was always on hand for travel information about the area and also for timetables for the trains, boats and buses.
The breakfast was a continental type, plenty coffee and tea, fruit juice, followed by cooked meats, cheese and various pastries.all fresh each day.
We ate in restaurant nettuno next door each evening as the hotel does not serve dinners and would advise anybody to try it as the quality and value for money of the food was superb.
All in all a great stay and happy memories of rapallo which is a lovely town which has something for everybodys tastes.
Many thanks again to the manager and his staff for a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: All rooms face the sea so you are sure to get a good one

Nice 2 room triple suite with view of harbor. Bath small but adequate. Staff was pleasant and helpful and breakfast was very good served in open patio. Shower was small but larger than our hotel in Florence which was amazingly small.
