B&B Tre Mari Portofino
Ranked #1 of 1 Portofino B&B and Inns
Reviewed October 16, 2013 via mobile

Great view, but.....
THE worst accommodation ever.
You pay 180 EUR per day in the low season for a filthy room, without bathroom and NO running water (!!!???).
I ll give you an advice. Try one of the 4* hotels in Santa Margherita, to enjoy a decent stay, for a lot less.

Buongiorno

Once you have found B&B Tre Mari, you know that you have found a very special place indeed. Getting there is tricky; you must walk into what looks like an appartment bdg right before the Carabinieri office, ring the B&B door bell, walk out the back of the building...and you are now in a different world, with trees, flowers and some 200 steps ! It is worth it, not only for the view, but also for the friendly service. We were greated by a pleasant young man who offered us something to drink even before showing us our room. The room was clean, large, and had windows on two sides overlooking the town and the harbour.
Breakfast on the terrace was so very special - again, friendly service, and an outstanding yogurt-cake. This B&B is expensive compared to other B&B, but well worth it compared to other places in Portofino.

This B&B is a great option to stay in Portofino, as most other options are hotels 2 or 3 times the price. The location is fantastic, with a great view over the village from our balcony window. The steps up through the gardens and terraces kind of make it an adventure. The room was very comfortable and Niru is a cheerful host. Shame the weather wasn't better, so we could enjoy breakfast on the terrace.

the b&b tre mari is the perfect solution to stay in portofino without spending too much.
the staf was fantastic,we spent three nights, and they also offered us a with a lot of fried food and drink.
the rooms were very clean with a fantastic view.
has a very convenient because it allows you to see portofino from above, the only negative were the steps to get, about 150, but they are nice because they are immersed in nature.
augusta and niru the masters were fantastic we will definitely return.

Had a great stay here, warm welcome and great view. Room was very nice and comfortable. Would recommend this place if you plan to go to Portofino instead of the fancy and expensive hotels. Only downside are the steps...

First, to find it: There's an arch next to the Caribinieri Station on Via Fondaco with access to a block of flats. Ring buzzer, go through and out the back, turn right then take the 175 steps up. Pack light as it's a fair old climb!

To achieve such a view you've got to go up so the 175 steps won't be for every visitor but once at the top the view and house are beautiful. There's no parking at the property or car access, parking is in the one multi-storey charged at €21/day (July 2013). Perched on a steep cliff with terraced gardens of flowers, lawns and fruit / vegetable / herb patches the place is lovely. The period house has high ceilings in the bedrooms with a ceiling mounted fan but no air conditioning and a mosquito net for the very comfortable large bed, large windows (in our room) gave a sideways view of the Harbour and opposing hillside. Our host and matriarch of the home was extremely welcoming and, on the second night, provided drinks on the terrace and delicious local canapes prepared by herself at no additional cost with produce from her garden. Breakfast also had homemade tarts / cakes, pastries and good coffee. The views are stunning from the garden. There's very little accommodation in Portofino and it comes at a massive premium. We paid €170/night for July 2013 which only makes sense when you compare it online to the other options in the 'village'.

I have never stayed in a more perfect B&B. Everyone involved is delightful, the rooms, the views and even the journey up (50 steps through planted terraces) to the B&B are amazing. Portofino is lovely and there are stunning, well sign posted walks to local monasteries, Sta Margerita and around (all worth exploring).
