“La Spezia, Cinque Terre ,My One Hotel and fantastic breakfast waiter”
Reviewed December 9, 2011

I say this because the breakfast, although ordinary, there was this waiter who worked entirely on his own. He worked at a pace I have never seen. The restaurant was always full and then everyone disappeared and the next shift arrived. If you wanted coffee, he made it, he cleaned, served food, all in a split second. Nothing was too much trouble. Reception were very helpful, day and night. The hotel was only steps down into the main town. Rooms great.
Re La Spezia, an amazing little town with gorgeous shops and restaurants. Went to a restaurant where there were DOGS allowed inside and out. if you didnt like it you would have to leave. Climbed Cinque Terre, five villages, recommended, check on the landslides though before climbing. This was flooded a week after we left !!!

Room Tip: Dont recommend to stay on reception level, too much traffic, also exit and entry to township is dark...

This is a great spot to stay if you want to explore the Cinque Terre. This was a good sized town with great restaurants and shops. The hotel itself was very good and clean and the room sizes quite good. The staff were EXCEPTIONALLY friendly and helpful and spoke English very well. It was a very short stroll (less than the previous comment) into town and the watersedge where you get the ferry to visit the 5 towns of the Cinque Terre. The breakfast was very average but all in all a good clean comfortable hotel in a great location. We were 4 girls travelling toegther aged in our 50's and 20's and both age groups were very happy

Stayed here prior to meeting up with the Backroads Tours group. Staff was very friendly with suggestions on where to go, what to do, etc. Even helped us out when the airlines lost my luggage. Room was small with a shower that no matter how you fold the doors, your floors will be wet. Minimalist looking rooms, with great views of your neighbors laundry hanging out. Cannot comment on the parking, as we took trains and walked everywhere. Breakfast was your basic complementary Italian meal: eggs, pastries, yogurt, fruit, ham and cheese. Our rooms wet bar was completely empty and compared to other hotels, had very exorbitant 800# phone call fees.

This is a place to stop at but not to plan a long vacation around.

Will do as "basecamp" for Cinque Terre. Ten minutes to the left for the boats and 20 to the right for the train station. Fifteen Euro per day gets you a reserved place in the nearby
parking garage (only 10 spots available; get one in advance). Free internet.
Breakfast in the lounge was..well..maybe we caught them in a bad time, but one advice:
bring earplugs or just look for an alternative location in town.
My One Hotel has only "My One Elevator" which probably explains the couch on every landing;
if you're in hurry take the stairs!
Room designed to look clean - no carpets - and if you're the type who sneakpeeks you may
leave your telescope at home. Across the vide you have an intimate view of the neighbor's
quarters and the opportunity to send encouraging signals to the crowd waiting for the elevator.
The personal safe was placed loose inside the cupboard.
The deskman promissed to make a note of it. A stylish and well designed toolkit
to screw it to the wall myself would have been so much more in line with the overall impression!

I thought this would be a pretty good hotel, currently ranked number 3 in La Spezia, but maybe its more about how ordinary the other hotels are in the area.
Lets face it, you're probably just staying there to head to Cinque Terre which is cool, so maybe the hotel doesn't matter that much, but the hotel has a fairly sparse feel. Like the floors in the rooms are tiled, which never makes it feel welcoming to me. More that they just want something thats easy to clean after guests. Not a bad location because just down the back 100m are shops and restaurants of the old town.
Staff were fine, internet was fine, bathroom was clean enough, so I guess it does the job of somewhere to sleep.

Our daughter had recommended this hotel when she visited the area and I can say we were not disappointed. Although it would have been nice to stay in one of the Cinque Terre towns, reservations were difficult to make because of limted availability. My One Hotel is only 10 minutes away from the train station which took us to all of the towns within minutes. The hotel is very modern and its cost is much less than those in the tourist areas. Breakfast was excellent, the staff were very helpful and friendly and our room was absolutely great with excellent air conditioning in the summer heat. We stayed four nights and one day we traveled to Torre del Lago the home of Puccini to visit the opera area. The hotel provided a central site accessible by train to this location. I would definitely recommend this hotel when visiting Cinque Terre..

Room Tip: Room had a deck attached to it which was a real bonus.

The hotel was clean and well maintained. Nothing spectacular. The staff was accomodating but not overly friendly.

We appreciated the convenient location within walking distance to the train station and ferries. It is also nicely located in the city center with tons of shopping and dining located just outside the doors.

There is a grocery store nearby, which is handy for stocking up on snacks, water, beer and wine. We emptied out the mini fridge and replaced it with our own purchases to save money. Worth noting - the fridge and air conditioner only work when your key is inserted in the slot so don't expect icy cold beverages waiting for you if you've been out all day.

The free wi-fi is a nice convenience once you figure out how to log on. Ask the front desk for help if you have any trouble.

The shower was small and it took some effort to figure out how to close the shower doors just right so water didn't leak all over the floor.

Breakfast is what we came to expect in Italy - pastries, cakes, fruit, yogurt, juices, coffee, cereal, and scrambled eggs.
