We stayed here for 2 nights at the start of our trip to Cinque Terre. I corresponded by email with Cinzia to book the room and advised her we were due to arrive at 11pm due to a late arrival into Milan. As it turned out, we got there at 10pm which was a relief all round I think! Cinzia was lovely, our room was huge by European standards. No air con which was a bit disconcerting as the room was baking hot ( it cooled down during the night) and perhaps a fan would have helped the air circulate a bit more. Bed lovely and comfy. We were directed to the only bar open on a Sunday night nearby, Il Gustio, and it was just what we needed for a quick welcome drink and start to our holiday. We ate there again the next night for convenience sake and it was okay, quite fancy and pizza was fine.

Cinzia gave us a map and pointed us the right direction for getting to the main port area. There was also internet access to use which was handy for the next day's train times.

I accidentally left my ring behind and emailed Cinzia once we got to Manarola and she thankfully had found it so we were able to go back to collect it on our last night back in Genoa. Unfortunately we had decided to stay in another hotel near the main train station for an early train back to Milan. Big mistake. it was 5 euros cheaper than this place and a complete dive but we thought at the time it was the easier option.

I would definitely recommend Il Salotto to anyone wanting to stay in Genoa!

Our stay in at Il Salotto di Lucilla with Cinzia will always have special memories. We travelled through Ireland, France and Italy. While we had great accommodation (mostly booked after researching Trip Advisor) there were three B&Bs which were above the norm. This was one of them. The area is quiet, and Cinzia suggested local eateries which were fabulous. We booked well in advance, so we did have the choice of all rooms. We booked online via the Website and then faxed through our personal details. It was so simple. Our room was spacious, beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. We stayed for 2 nights (spread over 3 – travelling to Cinque Terre for 1 night) and we were able to leave both our car (locked up at a cost of 10 euros per night) and the luggage we didn't want to take. The B&B is close to the railway station (about 5-10 minute walk) so it is an ideal location for anyone planning to go to Cinque Terre. The previous entry mentioned the steps. I managed with a broken leg so they are not too bad! Ask Cinzia to show you a "longer but gentler" way if you need (which she did for us). The building itself has a lift (elevator). The continental breakfast was very nice. There are so many more things we could add, but you need to experience them yourselves – enjoy.
