It was our first time in Genoa and we were very surprised to see just how close it was to the train station. It's literally right down the street. After buzzing into the hotel, we went to the reception desk (above the offices) and were greeted fairly politely. He spoke English well which helped.

Our room was on the second floor and was just what we needed for a one night stay. The showers were warm (but small) and the beds were comfortable (but smelled of bleach). We could hear people through the walls and cars drove by the window all of the time but we turned on the fan and were able to sleep without issue.

The breakfast was 5 euros and definitely better than expected. They had everything you would like (eggs, yogurt, cereal, toast, etc.) The most worrisome thing was the baggage storage for when we went out to town... The man told us to just stick them under the breakfast table and they would be fine. But they indeed turned out to be fine. Another perk of the hotel is that it's only about a ten minute walk from the central fountain, but the Palazzo Reale is just right down the street (HIGHLY recommended!). Also, there are a few restaurants and gelaterias outside of the hotel.

All in all, if you can get past the few issues here and there, it's a good hotel. We wouldn't want to stay here for an extended period of time but if you are passing through and are on a budget, go for it.

On the plus side this hotel is well located, it's in a central street close to a number of other hotels, it is very close to the train station and is only a short walk to the old town and port. It's a busy street with plenty of restaurants, it felt safe, but was also quite noisy with the traffic.

This could a great hotel, in a beautiful old building, with some rooms having lovely frescos on the ceiling, however it was generally very tired and run down. We stayed in some 3 and 4 star places in other places in Italy which were cheaper, now I know Genova is expensive, but I left feeling ripped off for what we got for our money.

My room was bland and bare, with marks all over the walls, aged lampshades sellotaped together, chipped furniture, a shower that had to be turned off to prevent it overflowing into the bathroom. In addition the plastic door had white plastic coating over a glass window and did not keep out the light from the corridor.

We did not eat breakfast as it wasn't included in the 120 euro bill for a double room.

Close to the rail station which was nice because we got in very late. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with lots of options. Rooms were clean and neat and big for a hotel in Italy! We had a room for 4 and it was nice to be able to move around. Free internet in the rooms...for 100 euros you can't beat this. We loved our stay and would not hesitate to rebook the next time we travel thru Genoa, Italy :)

I and my friend stayed in this hotel over rainy October weekend. It is very close to the railway station. At nigh this busy area becomes empty and one needs to walk about 15-20 minutes to the center of the town. Though the room was clean and the staff was friendly, it was probably the most ran down hotel I've ever been to. WiFi is accessible only in the lobby. Considering the cheap price, it may be an option for budget traveler, but next time I will be looking for something else.

Loved that it was so close to the main train station...no difficulty finding it. No frills, but very clean. Reception is on the 2nd floor. They have a lift but it seems to start on the 2nd floor, not the first. I thought the staff was quite friendly and accommodating. The night clerk gave me a super large room with high ceilings and queen sized bed. Nice sized bathroom, but shower needed some light...showered in the dark. Breakfast was good with a variety of cereals, juices, and croissants. The day clerk was also very helpful, phoning the airlines for me due to my delayed luggage. Free internet and wi-fi. Restaurant across the street was quite good.

Don't stay here. This hotel was recommended in a travel article about Genoa in the San Francisco Chronicle in January 2004. It was clean and convenient to the train station but that was where the good news ends. It is on the 3rd and 4th floor of an office bldg. which we knew already and would be fine but they had changed the reception area from the 3rd to the 4th floor but did not make any note of this in the lobby so after schlepping bags to the wrong floor someone finally came and found us and so it all began--the first room was very small, dark and had 2 twin beds for us--a married couple. The second room was fine--large and clean. But the air conditioning never worked and it was very hot in June and the direct dial phones did not accept any phone cards so we had to use at cell phones to make calls. We were there for 7 days so the cost added up. Obviously we could have moved but we both had gotten a stomach flu and the thought of moving seemed unappealing. The main desk clerk was nice but totally unorganized and the owner whom we saw one time was unfrienly to the point of being rude--we had a hard time figuring out her agenda. Our meeting with her was when we arrrived before we had any complaints etc. Price was good 100 euros including breakfast (minimal and slow), the cleanlines was fine--the chamber maids were the only highpoint people wise--but I would never stay there again and would definitely not recommend it. Also the area around the railroad station is a little dicey--many of the hotels are around there and we encountered no problems but it doesn't have a great feeling about it and none of the restaurants are in the area--they are all about a 10 or 15 minute walk away--definitely easy enough but it surprised us that there weren't more restaurants nearby due to the number of hotels.
