We spent here the first and the last night of our big road trip.
Perfect location, very friendly owner, nice rooms and very funny italian dog Tommy!
We had no problems with parking.

We would totally recommend this hotel and we will stay here our next time in Genova!

Two Russian girls from room 12.

Room Tip: Room 12 is perfect!

Great location. Very central and near train station if you want to explore the Ligurian coastline. Staff very friendly and helpful. Clean and tidy. Enjoyed chatting with owner and staff. Made to feel very welcome. Would return. Good value for money.

We spent the night in Genoa as we had a train connection in the morning so we wanted to be close to Genova Brignole station. Olympia Hotel was a short (10 minute) walk from the station which suited us. Agostino was very friendly but doesn't speak much English (he does speak Italian and French). We don't speak Italian but we managed to make ourselves understood so this wasn't a problem. We were kindly upgraded to a room with a private bathroom. The room was clean and attractively furnished, with comfortable linen and good lighting for reading. The bathroom was clean, with massive bath towels which were a novelty. Breakfast at a local cafe was included in the room price but we didn't try it out as we had to make an early train.

If you need to be near a train station we would recommend this place. We did walk through the area around Genova Piazza Principe railway station and we found this area to have a somewhat 'seedier' feel in comparison with the Genova Brignole neighbourhood where Olympia Hotel is situated.

Dear Guest
I remember very well of you and of your stay.
Thank you for your review and we hope to see you again guests.
I decided to go to English school, because (as we say, in Genoa and Italy) it's never too late.
I'm glad I helped you leave a beautiful memory of Genoa.
I hope to see you soon.
Best wishes
Agostino

Great location, Warm Hospitality, Clean and Comfortable – the Olympia Hotel provided a wonderful stay in Italy’s interesting port city, Genova. I had the pleasure of staying at the Olympia Hotel for several days in March and I can happily recommend the albergo to others looking for nice, simple lodging in Genova. The hotel has an optimal location on Via XX Settembre that provides great access to several city highlights (direct routes to the historic city center, the port, the aquarium, the Oriental Market - great pesto dishes available at the Market!). Affordable, bright, clean, and comfortable rooms are on the fourth floor of an interesting old building (check out some of the details in lobby ceiling and the ornate metal work on the antique elevator =). Above all, the EXCEPTIONAL hospitality of the owner, Agostino, and gregarious Edda created a warm and welcoming environment. Agostino’s absolute priority was to assist his guests in any way possible (directions, cafés, comfort, dining, etc.) in a professional, non-intrusive manner. He’s an incredible multi-tasker and manages the hotel with a gentle strength. Edda – multi-lingual with a caring ear (and a wealth of interesting stories =). The Olympia provides simple accommodations with excellent service. Highly recommended for budget travelers.

Room Tip: The rooms directly off of the small lobby - check-in desk might be noisier; the busy Via XX Settembr...

When my car arrived in Genoa a few days early, I had 24 hours to get a flight and a hotel to go and pick it up, and the hotel I chose was Olympia.

You're not going to find the Beverly Hilton here, but for what it is - a no-frills, budget hotel, it's exactly what you need. The owner (at least I assume that's who I met) is a really nice guy - weak on English, but then again, that's what my pidgin Italian is for - and will make you feel comfortable. As for the rooms - I stayed in number 9 - they're clean and comfortable enough for what you're paying! The only thing that ticked me off is that after 30 minutes of walking, I couldn't find a normal restaurant to have dinner in (read: any restaurant), and ended up at McDonalds, but that's hardly the hotels fault.

Note two issues (if you're a light sleeper): There's a church next door - and the padre enjoys his bells - and the door chime at the entrance can be heard in (I would assume) most rooms.

In short, a nice, clean budget place - recommended!

The price-point of this hotel is in the region of the B+B's at the scummy end of town around Principe station, but the Olympia is on a busy and attractive shopping street, very close to the centre of the old town. Agostino, the proprietor, couldn't be more friendly or helpful. If you don't speak Italian or French, this will possibly involve google translate on his laptop. Don't expect a spotless room or new towels every day, and breakfast is quite basic, at a cafe around the corner, but the hotel represents extremely good value for money.

Room Tip: You could try asking for a room with a balcony

This is a nice b&b for no-frills travelers. On a main street in the new part of town, near the old historic part of town. The place is kind of hard to spot, it's just to the left of the Hotel Bel Soggiorno, it has a floor in a building with other businesses, so look for the small sign near the doorway. The room was nice, the shower worked well, the TV was so-so. Friendly helpful proprietor. Show up late, sleep, and be gone. No frills, good cheap place to stay while in town.
