“Great afternoon in Genova”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 2, 2013

We were a group of 4 and booked an afternoon walk with Paola of Genovaguide. She was at our hotel promptly and we thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent with her walking and talking. We were able to see many palazzos and churches that we probably wouldn't have discovered on our own. She was a wealth of knowledge about the sights of Genova and gave us plenty of time to wander, shop, eat during our time together. I would highly recommend.

“Perfect experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 1, 2013

My wife and I spent a few days in Rapallo, but wanted to visit Genova on one of those days. We were impressed by the reviews of Genova Guides and decided to contact them. We took their suggestion and traveled by train and were met at the station by our incredible guide, Anna. We were given a couple of options as to what to see and, after selecting one, set off to see the city. We were impressed as to Anna's knowledge of, and passion for, the city. As we walked along, Anna answered all of our questions and we modified our route and schedule based on our interests. There is absolutely no way that we would have seen and discovered all of the sights on our own. And all of the historical facts were amazing. Our tour ended at the port, but not before Anna suggested several restaurants for lunch and made sure that we would be able to take the subway back to the train station for our trip back to Rapallo. We would definitely recommend Genova Guides to anyone desiring a fantastic tour of Genova!

“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

Pamela from Genovaguide was our tour guide in Genoa (for a small group) and really helped us explore the city and find out some of it's colourful history. Despite us having limited time she was flexible and willing to cater to our interests, and showed us a side of the city we would have never otherwise seen. Her local knowledge (as well as her english) is amazing, not only on historical facts etc but also in recommendations for great sandwich places, gelaterias, bars, restaurants.

I'd recommend a  trip to the Cinqua Terra, which was really beautiful, a place with so much history and natural beauty. It was great to have someone with us with so much knowledge, think we would've missed out on a lot of history and culture otherwise. Pamela also showed us the old harbour, some great churches and the monumental cemetery in Staglieno.

I would definitely recommend to other groups. Thanks Pamela!

“Great tour with a great guide!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 23, 2013

My family and I are a group of 6, and we only had a day in Genoa because we came via cruise ship. We booked a tour, and Paola was our tour guide. Paola was a great guide-- she goes at a very leisurely pace, which is really nice, especially for us, as we had spent the previous day in Rome. Paola organized a panoramic tour of Genoa and Portofino. Upon arriving in Portofino, Paola suggested some great gelato shops, as well as a good lookout point to get a view of the harbor, since we had some free time to explore Portofino. After leaving Portofino, Paola took us on a walking tour of Genova, and pointed out all the city highlights, as well as places to lunch. It was overall a very relaxing day with a great guide who was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Thanks so much, Paola! :)

“Very informative, thorough - really enjoyed it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 24, 2013

We spent a weekend in Genoa and found this tour online. We really thought our tour guide Anna was excellent and it really showed she was passionate about the city, its history and customs. So in my regular fashion:

Good
- it was really easy to book online relative to other tours we looked at - great follow up, clear pricing structure and schedule
- we covered most of the old city and unesco heritage Villas - Anna told us loads about the history of Genoa on each stop point - and i liked that she was just as knolwedgable about the breathtaking Rubens paintings in Jesuit church as about the oldest shop/coffee place in town :-) - that made it easier since we had some younger members of the group to whom Rubens may be less appealing
- Anna gave us also many suggestions about places to eat, local specialities to try and other tours/attractions we may be interesting in seeing - we followed some of them and were not disappointed
- 3 hours is a perfect lengh for the tour

I cannot really find many faults with this tour - it was fully customizable as per group's interest with a guide that was very knowledgable and able to cater to many interest. I would recommend them for sure - especially since Genoa is not a typical tourist destination and doing a tour gives you more context to this port city
