The Old Port, or Porto Antico, is the main tourist area of Genoa to visit. It was nice to just wonder around the port and browse through the shops and markets that where taking place while we were there.
The Old Port area also has a biodome, an enclosed ecological system that sits just above the water, a large aquarium and a replica pirate ship that was used in a movie. In addition to this there is the usual restaurants and cafes to visit and it makes for a nice day out.
For young children there is also a short (45 minute) ride on a tourist "train" that takes you around Genoa and explains some of the different areas of the city and key sites.
