“Nice hotel close to the historic centre”
Reviewed June 6, 2012

The only real drawback to this hotel is the rigmarole involved in using the lift, which was pretty ancient. The reception is on the third floor and it was difficult to use when dragging luggage. All the bedrooms seem to be named after artists. Ours was called Mondrian, which had one drawback, anyone over 6 foot tall would have difficulty using the bathroom, due to lack of space. However, the hotel is reasonably well equiped with a small gym, comfortable communal areas and internet access. I would certainly stay there again.

A great base for exploring Genoa--walkable from Principe station, close to the museums on Via Garibaldi, and easy access to the rest of the old city. Good value for money with smallish pleasant rooms. Room 9 opens on the terrace.

Like many hotels in Italy, this hotel located in the building with other businesses, occupying 3rd and 4th floor. There is elevator. This hotel centrally located, 15 minutes walking from train station (there are several buses stopping around the corner), and minutes from historical streets and port. After 8 pm shops close, streets become empty. But we walked from train station around 11 pm with our suitcases, and made it to the hotel safely.
Hotel is nice and clean. Our room was small, but it is common in Europe. There is mini fridge in the room. Hotel is quite. Breakfast is plentiful, coffee is good. There is Wi-Fi, good signal. There is a terrace on the 4th floor, for smoking. I did not see anybody smoke there, but we bought some food and wine, and had dinner outside on the terrace. There are several tables and chairs. That was very nice.
Staff is nice and speaks English. The lady at reception was extremely good and helpful. She gave us map and recommended places to visit and eat at.
There is restaurant around the corner from the hotel, as you exit to your left. I highly recommend it. You might want to ask reception to make you a reservation, because on Wednesday night it was full. On Thursday evening they had people waiting outside for a table. Restaurant is not cheap, but food is delicious.

We used Genoa as base for visiting Cinque Terre. It is about 2 hours to the furthest town by train, and 1.5 hours coming back. It did not feel like such a long journey, especially coming back, we were too tired after all day of waking. St Margherita and Portofino is only 45 minutes away. There is no connection to either destination, tickets are cheap, trains are plenty. Genoa is good city to as base, hotels relatively inexpensive, food is cheap and plenty.

This hotel is located between the harbour and the via Giribaldi. It's a perfect location to explore Genua by foot. The rooms are quiet and have comfotable beds. The hotel provides free wifi in the rooms.

A business trip to Genoa and a recommendation to try this 'funky' hotel prompted my stay. I was resident in the hotel for 7 nights and it was just lovely. The staff were all very polite and helpful and made my day when they left a bouquet of flowers in my room on my birthday. The hotel rooms are clean, with good showers and plenty of towels. The breakfast, although the same each day, was plentiful with lots of continental options and smashing cappucinos. The modern art inspired deco of each room made for a really boutique feel to the hotel as did the fact that there are only 16 rooms, and thus a very personal feel. Really well located for a walk around Genoa taking in all the major sights, but also apart enough from the central hustle and bustle to get a good night's sleep. I hope to return to Genoa soon and this hotel would definitely be on my preferred booking list.

this is an great hotel in a very convenient area. The hotel has a great manager. He was patient and answered all questions and gave great recommendations for where to eat and what to do. The hotel rooms are bright with a modern art decor.
