The sea, the scent in the air when it gets dark and café's are open in springtime, the "focaccia" smell at breakfast time, live music clubs, cheap saltwater pools in summer,

Easy to visit by a local train from Genoa or to combine with a walk at Boccadasse. The stony beaches are wonderful for sun bathing and there are several small bars and restaurants along the passage.

As a child I used to visit my grandparents in Genoa and this walk was always one of my favourite memories. Going back this year, I fell in love with it again - it is one of the most beautiful walks in the world and the perfect antidote to Genoa's gritty city centre. If you are coming by train, when you come out of the station, follow the signs to your left and then look for a door on the right - there is a tiny bakery selling delicious focaccia (plain, onion and cheese) as well as farinata which you can eat on a bench as you sit back and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Great location for walking by the sea. Beautiful sunset overlooking a beach full of marble rocks. The route to get there is full of huge villas with beautiful gardens. There are small shops for coffee, food, ice cream. Don't miss that place if you visit Genoa.

Brilliant walk and parks for both for couples and families. Great ice cream too. The views toward Portofino are fantastic and squirrels come and eat nuts from your hands
