“Importants defects”
Reviewed August 19, 2013 via mobile

The hotel is well situated, but :
- the room was very noisy (from the street not far)
- the pillows were old and very bad
- we could not us the elevator for the way down (we were at the 6th floor...). It was difficult with the luggage.
- for the breakfast, we had to wait 30 minutes in the lobby (with many other people) because the restaurant was full. It was 9am.

To conclude : the hotel is fine only for the location because the rest is bad.

Dear Mr. Patrick,
we acknowledge your review and we are really sorry for not meeting your expectations, which is our mission!
But we can assure you that we take all comments seriously and try to provide better service.
This is how we came to know the problem of the pillow quality: in September every guest will have two new top rated pillows in the bed AND the choice of 4 other orthopedic pillows.
Being in the center of town and being a successful hotel has its downturns: space is limited and everybody wants to stay with us.
So, even if our breakfast room is 100 square meters big with over 60 seats, our clients love to stay long time at breakfast and taste all our delicious products : therefore some guests have to wait to find accommodation. During the summer season with very high occupancy rate we ask our guests for cooperation, but not everybody is willing to limit his seating time and so situations like the one you experienced arise.
We have two elevators, but during peak time waiting time can grow: that is why our staff is always at disposal to help clients with luggage.
Our hotel does not face the street, so noise is relatively limited for a city center location; still we applied the best available noise reduction techniques, which bring the sound level to 35-40 DB with closed windows.
Again we apologize for the inconvenience you experienced but hope that you will visit us again and we can assure you that we will do our best to make you change your opinion.
With our best regards.
Fabiana

I searched the internet and found this hotel. We showed up and were so happy with our choice that we returned two weeks later, rather than trying out a different hotel in Genoa. The rooms were well appointed, though small, the front desk employees helpful, and the breakfasts were sumptuous! (And the nice young lady brought my decaf cappuccino with cinnamon hearts on top every morning.) While the hotel entrance was sort of down an alley so that cars dropping off people/luggage often had to back out rather than turn around, the feeling was clean and open. The hotel's restaurant was good and the neighboring restaurant near the hotel's entrance was even better. City Hotel was just a block away from the opera house (although not in session while we were there) and a bit farther(a half block) was the hop on hop off bus for Genoa. A great location. Free wifi and lots of outlets to plug in electronics. I would totally recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: The 2 rooms we stayed in with balconies had no division between the rooms' balconies on either s...

We stopped in at 7 PM for a one night stay. The desk attendant had one room- one he said was actually so small he wanted to show us first - he semed so apologetic. WHAT a nice surprise... I was expecting "old town Europe" small.. we got a perfectly decent sized room for only E107 including a GRAND breakfast buffet! Right in the heart of everything, excellent staff, quiet, clean... perfect locale!

Room Tip: If you are told all they have left is #520 and it is so small- don't worry!

The staff and breakfast in this hotel is excellent, as are the rooms and location. This is clearly a well-managed operation and I would easily stay here again on my next trip to Genoa. The breakfast in particular, offered high-quality items such as fresh squeezed juice, fruits, and morning pastries.

Nice superior room, it was however, quite small for 3 people (2 adults and a child). Breakfast was absolutely very nice. A bit inconvenient with parking, narrow one way street for luggage drop off. Book hotel parking if possible.

This hotel is in a great location. You can walk everywhere from here. The staff was very nice. Breakfast was excellent. They had rooms to accomodate a family of four. The bunk beds for the kids were not super comfy but it was nice to have a room for four at a reasonable price.

We really enjoyed this Hotel. The location was perfect for us near train station, shopping and the old port.

Breakfast was the best out of the 4 Hotels we were in as part of our vacation to the French and Italian Riviera's.

They had everything. Even iPads to use!

We had a slight problem with the play station in the room but they sent someone up immediately to fix this problem.

The bath was the biggest and most comfortable bath I have used.
The mini bar was nice to have after a long day out. Prices were reasonable for the Hotel class and area we were in.

My daughter left her bracelet behind (sentimental value from a relative in Italy) and the Hotel sent it back to us free of charge. Unfortunately the envelope was ripped open en-route and the bracelet never arrived, just the envelope.

I thanked the Hotel anyway for sending it.
A week later we received an envelope from the Hotel with a beautiful pink bracelet for my daughter from them. She loves it.

This was so kind of them and shows what great staff they have at the Hotel

They truly do deserve the number 1 rating on Tripadvisor.

When we return to Genova we will for sure stay here.

Oh and the room was very spacious with huge comfy bed and bunks the kids loved.

Faultless.

Room Tip: Don't miss breakfast or the Cappuccino's!!!
