“Best B&B ever”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 9, 2013

We were so lucky to have been able to discover this gem of a B&B. It is truly like a home away from home. The view from the rooms were simply amazing. The rooms were very clean and looked as if they were decorated by an artist. Everything seemed to be in their right places. This even looked lived in but orderly unlike some rooms we've seen which was probably why we felt so at home. The interior decor was so chic but at the same time very comfortable. The breakfast was very good too (in taste and amount) that I did not even notice there was no egg. Our host I'm sure would have provided it had I asked but maybe I forgot about the egg because her capucchino was just excellent. The building was also very grand that we surmised that it was once a palace only to find out when we returned home that it used to be the Grand Hotel Miramare. Well it did look very grand. The garden was also very beautiful. There was safe indoor parking. The B&B is also conveniently located as it is adjacent to a supermarket, a 3 min walk to the metro, the train station and a 10 minute walk to the aquarium. Our host was also very helpful with the tourist information and was so kind. One really could not ask for more. We can only wish that we'll have another chance to stay there again. This surely is a highly recommended B&B. Many thanks Cinzia and Pietro.

Room Tip: The view of the harbour was simply magnificent. The one fronting the railroad was also ok. At first...

3rd floor apartment in the beautiful old Miramare Hotel - easily the most decadent building in view from the Piazza Principe train station. Huge vaulted ceilings, marble floors, great bathroom and shower, lift access if necessary. The kitchen isn't really for general use as this is a B&B, but you can make yourself a cup of tea or coffee and use the fridge/freezer. There is access to a beautiful private garden area on the first floor.

Cinzia is a wonderful host who does not live in the building, but 30 minutes away. She arrives each morning to prepare your breakfast - a wonderful selection of croissants, focaccia and bread rolls; cheese and parma ham; yoghurts served with fruit juice and a choice of teas and coffees. The breakfast can be a bit simple, but is more than enough to set you up for the day. Cinzia is also able to offer advice about the local area, restaurants and activities. We took her recommendation to visit Nervi and were not disappointed. If you are looking for a beautiful seaside town with a roaring fresh fish trade and beautiful walks beside the medieval walls, then this place is a must visit - only 25 minutes by train. It was the Genoa we were hoping for.

The local area isn't great... Whilst the property is only a 10 minute walk from the station, you wont find a beach within walking distance. Genoa is very much a working port town and cruise ships are always coming and going. A 15-20 minute walk will get you to the touristy area near the aquarium (which we avoided) and also into the Old Town (much better) where the best architecture is. Be aware that many of the bars and cafés are closed on a Sunday, but it appeared as if museum entry was free - Via Giuseppe Garibaldi plays host to all the palaces and it it here that you can view Paganini's violin, the best preserved violin in the world, it if takes your fancy.

Beautiful place, marble floors, big rooms. Very nice hosts and an excellent breakfast. We stayed there on both sides of a cruse. It is about four blocks from the cruise terminal, an easy walk even with all our stuff. Piero and his wife don't live there so you have to make arrangements to meet them to check in. A nice grocery store by the entrance but a bit far from places to eat. Close to the old town for shopping, the Aquarium and other sights.

The apartment is located in a very grand old hotel that has been converted. It is very close to the main station and metro and a short walk to the city centre. The location is quiet and the rooms are very well thought out and comfortable. More than enough breakfast is provided to fuel you through a day of strolling and taking in Genova and surrounds.

Close to the train station and metro. About a 15 min walk to town. The hosts are really nice and. We arranged for Pietro to come and pick us up at the airport which was really helpful. Breakfast is really good. Room is nice but you share the apartment with another couple/person. Each room has its own bathroom but it isn't connected to the bedroom. This was. A great jumping off place for a night before heading to Cinque Terre.

Nautical motif "apartment" in an old classy hotel. Two couples traveling together and each bedroom was comfortable accompanied by a modern bathroom with shower. The common area, living room, was comfortable with a balcony with a great view looking out at the harbor. The train station is conveniently located within walking distance but far enough away not to be intrusive. The elevator was not working at the time but we were met outside and assisted with our luggage for the five flights of stairs. The continental breakfast was ample and fresh with fruit, yogurt, choice of coffee and bread. We were disappointed that when we were checking out before time to travel to our next destination that we were unable to leave our luggage and had to walk around Genoa. The train stations baggage room was given as an option, but unfortunately did not work out. The recommendation for dinner at Mario's was great. We would recommend staying at this convenient location.

Room Tip: Both rooms we rented were equally lovely with bathrooms outside the room.
