B&B Domitilla

We arrived at B&B Domitilla from the train station just a short walk up the hill and we were greeted by Pietro.

The b&b is situated on the 3rd floor, overlooking the city in an old 5 star hotel.

Each morning Cinzia would prepare us breakfast in the common room, with consisted of fresh traditional Genoa sweet focaccia with jam, a croissant, yogurt, tea & coffee and juice.

The beds were super comfortable with fluffy pillows in a smaller room with a private balcony and a view over the city. We also had our own bathroom.

Unfortunately I fell quite sick with a fever and was bed ridden for the only day we had in Genoa. I asked if the owners would be able to call a doctor. However, very kindly Pietro and Cinzia called a home doctor who came to the b&b and saw me. Cinzia also took my girlfriend down to the supermarket and bought food so that we could cook lunch in their kitchen without having to go outside in the cold. Cinzia also went to the Drug Store and got the medicine needed for my fever. WOW. Absolutely outstanding. 10/10.

Adding to their outstanding hospitality they also recommended some fantastic restaurants for us to visit.

I highly recommend this place if you ever head to Genoa. Pietro & Cinzia will make you feel right at home.

Everything is really nice. Rooms are big, clean, and comfortable. Building is a separate history, it's awesome! Location is near railway, but 20-25 minutes from city-center.

2 things to improve:
1. Breakfast doesn't include meat and cheese.
Usually you get that things in hotels. But you know... First I didn't like it. But after that I thought that it's a way to feel how people live and eat in Italy. Anyway, I wouldn't define it as rich.
2. Rooms have it's own style,... a little bit antiques. My gf felt some smell of old wood and she didn't like it. She couldn't sleep well because of that.

Anyway 90euro is a good price for apparts and pleasant owners. Thank you, Cinzia.

The stay at Domitilla was absolutely lovely. First of all the place was easy to find. From train station the moment I looked up I instantly recognized the building, for such a beautiful building is unmissable. That completely save the trouble of map. It is a very short walk from the P. Principe train station, hence very convenient for those needing to be close to the train station. The window and balcony of the rooms are facing the train tracks, nevertheless, I believe the sound insulation of the building was superb, I had an absolutely quiet night without disturbance. Another plus of being close to the Principe station - it is hence also very close to the Principe metro station so you could easily use the metro to get into town.

The room itself was simply lovely and tastefully decorated. The hard-wood and marble flooring gave a feeling of elegance in the room, the bed was very comfortable. Flat screen TV and air conditioning were available in the room. The room was very neat, tidy, and clean. I have absolutely no complaint about the room itself.

The building itself has a garden which overlooks the harbor, gives you a fantastic view of Genoa. The area was also perfect for spending some time in the afternoon sun, taking a break and so on. The interior of the building simply gave you a grand feeling, with very high ceiling, marble floor and so on. You feel like you're in a 4/5 star hotel!

The breakfast was fine according to my standard, although I would have prefered it slightly more. The Italian breakfast consists of mainly dry pastries, foccacia, bread, coffee/tea, fruit juice and yogurt, no eggs.

The only inconvenience I would say is that it is required that you call a given number upon arriving so that the lady could pick you up downstair. This would be inconvenient for those who don't have a cell phone (or with high roaming charges). I do not understand why it wasn't possible to ring the doorbell of the lady, who lives in the same building. This however, is a side story.

Finally, the way from the train station to Domitilla is slightly uphill, partially with cobbled stones so luggage dragging is more efforts. It is still a very easy climb for most people I believe. For those who might have problems with this shall keep this in mind.

Very cosy, big, clean room with private bathroom and balcony with nice view. Very elegant, amazing building with a beautiful garden. Warm and welcoming atmosphere. Perfect the location, close to the train station (nevertheless quite, thanks to the double glazing).

Room Tip: Rooms with harbor view are quieter then rooms on the railway side.

We stayed one night, and enjoyed the sopaciousness of the apartments, and the home-like atmosphere. The rooms were very nicely decorated.
