“CLEAN, CONVENIENT AND WITH GREAT SERVICE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 28, 2013

My wife, my two children and I spent two nights in the "Borgo" and thoroughly enjoyed the place. The room was very nice, clean and with all amenities we needed (TV, wifi, bathtub/shower). Breakfast was particularlly good thanks to the delicious cakes prepared by Alessandra.
Giovanni was extremely attentive and responsive to our needs, in providing information about Genova and on places where we could eat. When he realized that we needed a warm bottle of milk for our daughter before going to sleep, he spontaneously left milk and a microwave in our room: a great surprise when we came back after a long day touring the beautiful city of Genova.
All in all, this place is great value for money, with a mega plus for the service offered by Giovanni and Alessandra. If you don't mind walking up a very steep flair of stairs, this is a place we warmly recommend.

Small but comfortable room. Slept like a rock on the comfortable bed. Breakfasts were excellent. Hosts Giovanni and Alessandra are delightful and helpful. Location is perfect for getting downtown-10 min walk or to train anywhere 2 mins to Brignole Station. Would definitely go back.

We stay almost exclusively in B&Bs, and our very best experiences come from both the people and the place – from hosts who are genuinely kind and interested and a place that is clearly a labour of love. This is Il Borgo di Genova; this is Alessandra and Giovanni.

We had the great fortune of being able to share five days in Genova with our two adult daughters, and our hosts kindly accommodated all four of us in one large en suite room. For a family that has often travelled together, this was perfect. It was a clean, quiet retreat after a day of sightseeing and great food. We slept well and the breakfasts were great.

We liked the location. Brignole station is a convenient starting point for out-of town excursions and for the metro. The centro storico is easily walkable (15-20 minutes). Genova is a grand and gritty city with plenty of galleries, palaces and historical buildings, and far fewer tourists than you will find in Florence or Rome. We had a great time, and we valued our hosts’ advice on sites, restaurants and excursions (to Camogli, especially).

A highlight was the wonderful visit we had with Alessandra and Giovanni on one of their few quiet mornings, talking and laughing about everything from politics to cuisine. Such good hosts! We hope to return!

Charming B&B close to the heart of Genova. 2 mn walk from the Brignole station and metro station (but very quiet). Very nicely decorated, very comfortable beds and great breakfast (ask for a fantastic cappuccino). Top price-quality. The small B&B (6 rooms) is managed by the adorable Alessandra and Giovanni who will help you find your way in Genova. A beautiful city which deserved to be discovered. The kids also loved it. We'll definitely go back.

Room Tip: High flight of stairs to get to the B&B, not for wheelchairs.

We spent two nights here and were warmly welcomed into a most beautiful B&B. The location is excellent, very close to the train station and a short walk to the centre. We were given lots of advice and recommendations from our host which was very helpful. Breakfast was very good and, as we had an early train to catch, breakfast was left out for us to help ourselves. Thank you very much for a most enjoyable stay in Genoa.

The second time of visiting Genoa in 10 month's, because my partner and I absolutely love it....meant we just had to return to this absolute 'Gem' of a B&B. We spent a full week there last summer...and vowed that we would return some day...and really couldn't wait to get back and meet the lovely Alessandra and Giovanni. It's very difficult to add anything different from what has already been wrote about them.....but we'll give it a try!
Since last year it is very clear that they have both worked extremely hard to improve an already superb place to stay. From entering the property...it smells beautiful...and yes, the stairs are very steep...but Giovanni is allway's there to carry your luggage. 1st floor has a very pretty, airy dining room...where you are served a number of home made pastries/cakes,fresh crusty bread, jams, marmalades, alongside the most beautiful coffee....(with the addition of fried eggs this year).Sometimes it's hard to drag yourself away and go out and discover Genova!!!
There are a couple of bedrooms on this floor which have been upgraded, with a seperating door installed (to reduce any noise)...and it now boasts air conditioning, mini fridges and personal safes!!! Something I'm sure will be a huge advantage in the summer month's when it can be extremely hot?
Ian and I were very lucky...and we were allocated the 'loft' bedroom....this was absolutely gorgeous...spacious...airy...summery...and fitted out to the highest specifications...with the most comfortable bed EVER!!! The shower was fabulous, with plenty of hot water...and the bathroom design was modern and functional.
Previous reviews make it very clear that Alessandra has impeccable taste...and has the ability to mix traditional with modern....something that is very evident throughout the property. It has been developed with lots of love and affection; and attention to detail. Clean fluffy towels, immaculately clean, pretty ornaments and prisitne bedding.
Alessandra and Giovanni are the lovliest couple you could ever wish to met. They take pride in their buisness...in their country and most of all...in their guests. They always spend time on a morning talking to everyone, offer you lots of helpful information regarding places of interest etc....but..we feel they go the extra mile to make you feel welcome and special.
They helped us find out where to go for football tickets, showing us on the local map,as this was always something we wanted to return and see....very helpful when your Italian isn't as good as you think it is??? Anyway...we found it very easily....and didn't need the Italian language at all....as the young man spoke fine English!!! The football stadium is about 10-15 minutes walk away. We had a wonderful time....and found it a marvellous experience watching someone else's culture. The game was entertaining too.
There is now a metro station at the end of the street where the property is situated....very handy if you don't want to walk to the harbour on a wet day(sadly it rained for much of our stay)...and is only a few stops away.
I'm not sure if we can add anything more....apart from, we have taken Genova into our hearts, as we think it's a brilliant city....and we will definitely go back, probably next year?
The other thing is...we have taken both Alessandra and Giovanni to our hearts, as they are a fine example of a beautiful country, with a wonderful culture and lovely people.
Thankyou to you both for yet another brilliant stay!!

Room Tip: Situated in a fairly quiet street....all rooms would experience a little noise...but nothing that wo...
