Food is extremely fresh & cooked v well.
(You have to like fish) this place was full of locals on a Monday night when everywhere else was dead. Book or turn up early, it is busy.

A wonderful place in the old part of the city. One of the fun things about Genoa is wandering the old side streets. This place is found on one of those old side streets. Packed with locals and Italian tourists, this Osteria serves authentic and real Ligurian seafood. A menu is on a blackboard on the wall (they will bring it to your table if you ask) contains all the seafood offered. Don't expect spaghetti here. This is all about the fish. If you don't speak/read Italian, they will help you understand what is available by giving you the names in English. Reservations are highly recommended, though you can do walk-up reservations a few hours ahead (as we did). Remember though - restaurants don't open for dinner until about 7:30 - have a focaccia mid day to get you through until dinner if you are used to eating early.

We really enjoyed the food in this local restaurant. The fish was just amazing. So fresh and extremely well prepared. Nothing really fancy. Just simple, straight cooking with the best ingredients.
Good family service and friendly staff.

Each year we attend the Genoa Charter Show in May and one of the highlights is to eat at the Vico Palla. We have been going there for years. It is still the same high quality food with very friendly service. If stuck the owner speaks good English. I have travelled to a few places in the world and the Vico Palla is a great place to eat.

We were recommended this restaurant by a Italian friend of ours. The food was excellent and the waiter very helpfully translated the menu.If we were back in genoa we would definitely come back.
