Vernazza is the most picturesque of the Cinque Terre villages, and certainly remains a favourite: with colourful, antique homes clinging to impossible cliffs. Booking the room online was easy, Martina's father met us on arrival and got us settled, and was around the square if we ever needed him. It only takes 63 steps to reach N1, a room with a great view across the square. (next time I will try to get N3 as it has a roof-top terrace) The room was clean, comfortable, and the building is located right in the midst of the village square. Thankfully after the day-tourists have left, Vernazza returns to being a quiet township so the evenings become more relaxed and sleep is easily achieved. The dramatic walks along the coastline to the other villages are spectacular, and it is recommended that you go early before the 'goat-track' trails get too busy. Food, food, food! Vernazza is a dining dilemma, as every café & restaurant delivers an incredible dining experience. The seafood is spectacularly matched by the pasta or the pizza, and washed down with delicious vino.
