I have now stayed at Pensione Sorriso two different trips. This time for 8 days. The breakfast is always wonderful, Aldo makes the best Cappucinos in the world. While this does not have a sea view, it is lovely and easy to get to. My room this year has been remodeled and sports an AC unit...which I wouldn't normally use, but the street is loud in the morning...so closing the windows and turning on the AC helps. The hospitality of Francesca and Aldo is warm and loving....I would recommend this place to anyone...and would return again and again...only thing missing is a sea view!!!

My stay was at their annex location where it was quieter. Accomodations were basic and clean. Bed had a big lump in the mattress one side. Breakfast was nice. No problems, but nothing to get excited about.

Nicely located in the town. Aldo was kind to us, we arrived very late as the directions were so poor, but he welcomed us. Breakfast was better than most we had while in Europe! Room was clean and neat, but over the town kiddie park, so very noisy in the AM. Would stay there again.

There are several buildings that belong to the Pensione Sorriso - it seems some are much nicer than others. Ours was 200m away from the main one and without charm. Main building seems to have a nice courtyard. Breakfast was good. There is a large buffet with fruits, bread, salami, cheese, cereals and lovely coffee.

This Hotel is nice and reasonably priced. The Breakfast is terrific. Unfortunately we were robbed by the houskeeper while there.

I would not make accusations lightly however we are 100% certain that cash was taken from one of our bags in our room by the housekeeper.

Other people who have stayed at this hotel have had similar experiences.

Hopefully the management of this hotel will get on top of this problem and it can live up to its potential as a nice hotel in beautiful Cinque Terre.

It is hard to rate this hotel as the theft overshadowed our experience there. I would definitely recommend the hotel were it not for the lack of security.

From a reccommendation we booked our stay in the prettiest of the five villages.
A quick 5 minute walk from the train station and with no external stairs , we were delighted with the location (Some B&B's have 100 steps up to them and then you have the internal floors to contend with!).Rooms are basic, very clean and spacious, the bathroom small but practical. The small balcony overlooking the rooftops added to its charm.
Breakfast is a treat, presentation a delight. Staff are friendly, courteous and helpful.
Make this your home away from home while discovering the other four villages by train or the walking tracks.

When people talk about the trains, believe it. We didn't sleep a wink. The trains do indeed run all night, are quite loud, and closer than you would think. This was the most expensive room we stayed in in all of Italy. It was the most expensive room in the place and it was on the street, and hence, close to the train tracks. Not sure why the rooms in the back of the building, away from the tracks, were cheaper, unless they were smaller, although that is hard to believe. It felt like the owners were cashing in on owning property in the "most picturesque town in CT" and doing nothing for the guests while spending the day waltzing around town and on their boat. As for Vernazza, it is a cute town and the Cinque Terre hike is great. The restaurants are average for Italy, and indeed, not cheap. Not sure you'd need to spend more than a day here. It gets crowded when buses, ferries or trains drop off. Rick Steeves needs to not list this place. It's like playing Russian Roulette with where your room ends up.
